When I saw this kitchen remodel by Emily Henderson I fell in love. I happen to really like Spanish style homes, and I like to see them done in a fresh, updated way. This kitchen went from a dark, Tuscan vibe to a cheery, light and bright space. It’s a beautiful example of a modern spanish kitchen with old world charm. I’m excited to share this before and after discovery with you today.

Before

After

This transformation is so beautiful. It was done on a budget, but you would never know. The amazing cement tile floors really add to the charm of the space and lift the color of the kitchen. They look perfect layered with the colorful kilim inspired rug.

I love how this kitchen has the character and vibe of a spanish style home, but the surprise of white and teal blue cabinetry. It’s such an unexpected twist on Spanish style and it really updates the space. And I’m drooling over her selection of cement tiles for the backsplash. Their unique pattern blends well with the flooring. It’s stunning. (For blue cabinetry paint pics you can visit my non-white kitchens post.)

When possible, I love the use of open shelving, it’s a great way to update a kitchen affordably. It was a clever choice for this kitchen. The open shelving makes the space feel larger and the display of eclectic styled dishes adds to the old world feel of the space. See more tips for using opening shelving in a kitchen here.

This angle really shows of the crisp, airy feel of the space. I love how she completely changed the look from dark to light and fresh. This is a kitchen I would love to spend a lot of time in.

Here is a peak into the dining space. That empire style chandelier is gorgeous (see budget friendly options below). I also love how she chose dark upholstered wood chairs to tie in the warmth from the kitchen counters and detail of the cement tile backsplash. This modern spanish kitchen is such a beautifully designed space, full of interest, preserving old world charm.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing this inspiring kitchen. To view more before and after images you can visit Emily Henderson’s site here. For more resources on open shelving, choosing cement tiles and kitchen rugs see below. Have a wonderful day!
