Over a week ago I was invited by the newly renovated Palm Court in Sheraton Grand London for their Dotty Dalmatian Afternoon Tea*. This special afternoon tea has been organised to celebrate 55 years since the film classic 101 Dalmatians launched in the UK. To mark this anniversary Sheraton Grand London also launched a dog-friendly hotel package for pampered pooches to enjoy a stay with their owners (talk about luxurious eh). I decided to invite my dear blogging friend Renata (Speaking Beauty UK) to enjoy this special afternoon tea with me, along with lots of catch ups & plenty of beauty talk... which is exactly what we did & had a lot of fun too. I've visited Palm Court in the past before the renovations (I've visited most of Sheraton Grand Hotel at this point) and loved the grand style of decor with a Gatsby design. It just had that luxurious feel to it and took you away from the busy London city lifestyle. Now that it's been renovated, they have added modern touches throughout the big hall but still managed to keep that 1920s style. Overall it looks more beautiful than ever and I was seriously impressed.

As soon as we walked in to Palm Court we were met by friendly faces, happy to help us. We decided to sit in the upper seating area in the middle of this grand room, which overlooked the rest of the restaurant (it was also perfect for taking photos #bloggerpriorities). Once seated we were presented with their tea menu, yup a whole menu for teas. I obviously knew that there's various teas available, but having the choice of more than 30 different varieties and flavours was definitely an experience and it took me some time to decide my tea of choice. In the end I opted for a reliable fruity tea in the form of Apple & Elderflower Green Tea, as I'm quite fond of green tea especially if it has a fruity touch to it and I was super happy with my choice.

The 'Pongo and Perdy' inspired Afternoon Tea was a real treat for both the eyes and taste buds, not to mention that it served plenty of great photography opportunities. Before tea and food were served we were greeted with a glass of prosseco, which is definitely my kind of drink and it was really refreshing too. We then moved onto the food and started with a selection of Dalmatian inspired savoury treats, which included a polka dot macaroon made of confit salmon (that's right a savoury macaroon - it took some time to adjust my taste buds, but in the end it was actually quite tasty),  smoked trout mousse with English mustard and pickled red onion hot dog, free range egg mayonnaise & watercress sandwiches, as well as a short rib and bone marrow hot pot. Everything tasted delicious and we even opted for a second serving of the savoury treats.

We then moved onto the mini scones, original ones and chocolate versions too. Again these were super tasty and we enjoyed a fantastic selection of jams & chocolate spreads with them. At this point we we're both feeling quite full (more like stuffed), so we decided to have a bit of a break between moving on to the dessert selection. The waiter kindly brought us some tasty Berry Mojito cocktails to sip on while we chatted away... they were greatly appreciated by both of us as we took a break from all the food.

Eventually we ended the afternoon tea with the gorgeous selection of desserts (they almost looked too good to eat... almost). The selection included Perdy’s paw made with a delectable lemon mousse and Oreo biscuit, Pongo’s dog bowl made from blueberry cake and violet cream, a dotty white chocolate cream brownie and a devilish Cruella de Vil chocolate sponge and raspberry jelly. Even though we were so full at this point, we just kept going because every single bite tasted amazing.

This special afternoon tea is currently finished (I know what am I like teasing you with all the delicious food), but Palm Court do offer a variety of different afternoon tea options... just as tasty with prices starting from £37 pp. Overall we had an amazing afternoon and I couldn't recommend Palm Court enough, if you're looking for a place to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea experience with great atmosphere too.
