Dewy skin, bright colours and achieving that au naturel look is all the fuss this season.
How do you get this season’s hot beauty trends without spending a pretty penny? Here are a few tips and tricks.
Go lippy or go home.
Get luscious lips this season by trying some of the latest lip trends! Try candy-coloured shades, ultra-glossed lips or go grunge with darker, matte shades. You don’t have spend a fortune trying all these looks. Retailers like Shoppers Drug Mart or Well.ca offer a range in prices and brands to select from. Find a formula you like that carries a wide variety of colours and finishes (like Milani Color Statement Lipstick available in 30+ shades in matte and crème).
Korean inspiration.
From intensive skin care routines to BB creams, Korean beauty trends are a growing influence and the origin of the “I woke up like this” look that is typically seen on Instagram. One example is the double cleanse system, where you cleanse once with oil cleanser (try the Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil!) to remove makeup followed by a foaming cleanser. Doing a deep clean every week or so is a great way to improve your natural radiance and glow. Find the most popular products on Amazon, such as the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask and Sari’s personal review of the product here.
Non-touring.
That’s right, it’s no longer about contouring. As the temperatures start to rise, it’s time to opt for lighter; low-maintenance beauty products to achieve a fresh look for the spring and summer months. It’s all about healthy skin with subtle highlighting. The Body Shop’s Drop of Light line will help you get the glow you’re looking for. At beautyBOUTIQUE, try looking for Clinique’s Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight. Perfect for the girl on the go!
90s revival.
As you know, history tends to repeat itself and that definitely holds true with beauty trends. Some classic 90’s trends are back with a refined, modern touch! Try your hand at an accent braid with tousled hair like Blake Lively or Dutch braids as seen at Coachella by Kylie Jenner. Knot buns are another popular hair trend to try! Don’t forget to be playful with colour! Pink can be a fun spring hair colour to try, but you might not want to rock a full head of pink hair. Try it as an accent subtle highlight near the front of the face. Manic Panic always has a great selection of colours, as well as Color Brilliance (both available at Sally Beauty Supply).
The bold and the beautiful.
Big, bold brows are in, but there are so many brow products to choose from! What are the best products? And which ones give you the best results for your buck. On the higher end of beauty brands a few top picks include the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Pencil, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade (available at Sephora), and Benefit Cosmetics Instant Brow Pencil. The Lis Watier Eyebrow Pencil and The Nano Retractable Eyebrow Pencil by Marcelle are also great options if you are looking for something a little more cost friendly.
