Elle 18 Eye Drama Bold Black Kajal : Review, Swatches & EOTD.

Author Sanchita

Elle 18 has finally launched a decent kajal apart from the conical one and jumbo pencils. Unlike the other ones, it need not to be sharpened and looks quite decent for daily usage. For my daily use, I always prefer a retractable one as it is easy to use and consumes less time.

Having used the kajal several times, here are my thoughts about it.

PRICE – Rs. 135/- for 0.35g

MY REVIEW

Packaging – The packaging of the Elle 18 Eye Drama kajal is pretty much same as its contemporaries. It comes wrapped in a black packaging with every information about the product penned down. The kajal has an ultra slim body, sleek black color and has the retractable functionality. The cap is also black in color and shuts with a click. The retractable body works smoothly without any bump and since you won’t have to sharpen it, there is no question of wastage. Overall, the packaging was simple, travel friendly and great for daily use.

Shade – The shade ‘Bold Black’ is true to its name. The shade is indeed the deepest of the black and reminds me a lot of the L’Oréal Paris Kajal Magique Bold, which is one of my favorite. The color has no shimmer or glitter at all and simple black with a sheen for a slight glossy effect. It looks extremely good on the eyes and great for a dramatic and glamorous look for any event. Although I have seen deeper black than this but for the price, the shade is a standout.

EOTD :

Pigmentation – The pigmentation is surely rich and intense with a single swipe. For the upper eye lid, I merely use a single swipe to deposit the color while for the water line you do need multiple swipes. Since the kajal has its own hydration, it slips slightly on the water line. Overall, the pigmentation is good but not great as other high end kajals.

Texture – The texture of the kajal is creamy smooth and glides like a dream. After a long time, I got a kajal so smooth and creamy like butter. However, the pressure doesn’t break the tip while application at all. The kajal never tugs or pulls the delicate eye area and feels so gentle. There have been no kind of irritation on the eyes. Since I don’t wear contact lenses, I can’t comment how it works with that. The packaging states that it is ophthalmologically tested.

Formula and Finish – The kajal has a creamy formulation. It does set into a slight matte finish but still then I see some kind of sheen after hours of application. Thus I would say that the finish is satin-matte. The kajal is waterproof but not smudge proof completely. After a passage of time, the kajal slightly smudges from my lower lash line but doesn’t give me the crazy raccoon look. However, it will be a mess if you accidentally rub your eyes. It has the tendency to accumulate a bit at the corner of the eye at the end of the day. It also has the tendency to accumulate a bit at the corner of the eye at the end of the day.

Longevity – The staying power of the Kajal is around 5hours which is decent, if not great. It doesn’t get affected by waterpoof at all but it does smudge and fade out (not completely) for the lower lash line. You can use a slight black eyeshadow to prevent smudging and create a soft smoky effect for the daytime. The kajal isn’t long wearing but surely great for beginners and college goers. It gets easily removed with any eye makeup remover.

OVERALL – Elle 18 Eye Drama Bold Black Kajal comes in a twist-up format with intense rich texture, bold pigmentation and lasts for a decent amount of time. It enhances a simple look to a more stylish avatar and this is a perfect everyday product.
