M·A·C is out with 12 new shades of the popular Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour. Always on trend, the new Retro Matte shades consist of earthy, nude and deep tones. While the first Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Collection (review) was primarily brights, this release fills in the gaps with the nude shades we crave.

The Spring 2017 M·A·C Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Collection includes (shown left to right):

Carnivorous – blackened red

Dash O’Spice – yellow-beige

Ess-Presso – deepened chocolate brown

Flesh Stone – greyed neutral brown

Cafe Au Chic – greyed beige

Burnt Spice – creamy dirty rose

So Me – greyed plum

Topped with Brandy – deep dirty rose

Uniformly Fabulous – blackened grape

Chocotease – warm chocolate brown

Young Attitude – blackened teal (not shown)

Simply Smoked – brown taupe (not shown)

Right now, every time you turn around, there’s another liquid lipstick release. Regardless, the M·A·C Retro Matte Liquid Lipsticks are still my favorite formula. I love the saturated color, the long-wear and the variety of shades. It is a true “liquid suede” finish. I find I get the best results by keeping my lips exfoliated (M·A·C’s new Scrubtious Lip Scrubs should help with that), then applying a lip balm prior to applying the color. Once the color is applied, let it sit on the lips for 30 seconds or so to dry down.

Another difference between the Retro Matte lipcolours and all the others is the applicator. I haven’t found one I like better. The oval-shaped applicator was made to be used so that you could line lips first, then fill in. It works to perfection. That’s Burnt Spice above…my favorite shade in this collection.

The M·A·C Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Collection for Spring 2017 ($18/shade) is available now in department stores including Nordstrom and at maccosmetics.com. Have you tried this liquid lipcolour yet? What are your thoughts?
