If there’s one beauty product that is ‘essential’ for me, it’s blush. Whether I’m browsing the department store cosmetic counters, or dashing through Target like a madwoman, I will always make time to see if there’s a new blush I need (the answer is invariably yes). This season, the blushes are more beautiful and crave-worthy than ever.

With highlighting, strobing and contouring all having their moments, I say it’s time for blush to step forward. While 90’s beauty trends are making a comeback (think big hair, bold eye looks), you can never go wrong with a pretty pop of color on your cheeks.

These are my favorite blushes for Spring!

Guerlain Meteorites Happy Glow Blush (review) – subtle, sheer buildable color plus the radiance of the Meteorites formula, this blush is gorgeous for spring.

Pixi Beauty X Aspy Novard Glow-y Powder in Rome Rose is part of the new Aspyn collaboration. This highlighting powder imparts a luminous flush with slight rose color and gold micro-shimmer. Not as pigmented as a true blush, but for a light lifting effect on the skin, this is a great choice.

IT Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Ombre Radiance Blush – this blush brightens and has a luminous finish, with a skin-loving and anti-aging formula. Great pigmentation and talc-free, too.

Flower Beauty Flower Pots Powder Blush (Warm Hibiscus, pictured) – a pretty pink-rose shade with gold shimmer, this blush highlights and imparts a subtle glow.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Luminous Blush in Camellia (review) – I adore the BECCA Luminous Blushes. Super pigmentation with a luminous finish, the Camellia shade is one I use again and again. It gives a gorgeous pop of color, is long-wearing and you only need the lightest hand. Love!

MAC Powder Blush in Fleur Power (pinkish-coral, satin finish) – I’ve often said that I love MAC blushes and Fleur Power, from the Chinese New Year Collection, doesn’t disappoint. This is a neutral pink shade that many skintones will be able to wear, with good color saturation.

Lancome La Rose Iridescent Blush Highlighter is the most stunning blush/highlighter I’ve seen. It’s actually too pretty to use, and looks spectacular displayed on my vanity. Very hard to find, it’s more of a collectible.

Clarins Skin Illusion Blush (01 Luminous Pink, pictured) (review) – Beautiful blush for light to medium skintones. The unique applicator allows you to sculpt (or contour if you use shade 03) the perfect look. Nicely pigmented with mineral and plant extracts for a silky finish.

Marc Jacobs Air Blush Soft Glow Duo in Kink & Kisses – two shades of pale peach-pink blush which you can combine for a natural, radiant flush. This blush has good pigmentation is is silky and easily blended. The lighter shade highlights, while the deeper tone contours; together they’re long lasting and beautiful.

NARS Bumpy Ride Blush (review) – I couldn’t include a blush update with NARS. To me, NARS still owns the blush category, with the best pigmentation and wearability in the class. Bumpy ride is no exception; excellent formula, color-payoff and wear, you just can’t go wrong with this one.

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Paints Pro Artist Blush Palette – four shades of blush that you can wear singly or combine for a custom color. Very wearable shades; use your own blush brush for best results.

For application, I like to use the following blush brushes: Anastasia Beverly Hills A19 Blush Brush (review coming soon), MAC 168 Large Angled Contour Brush and the MAKE UP FOR EVER 156 Large Flat Blush Brush.
