Although matte lips have been a major trend for spring, it’s now that time of year where heat and humidity take over. We frantically start searching our makeup stash for mattifying primers, foundations and whatever else will promise a shine-free finish. Here are my picks for the Best Matte Makeup for Summer!

Whether you have oily or combination skin, or just want a sweatproof, shine-free look this summer, having an arsenal of matte makeup can help. These are my top 10 favorite matte makeup products for summer.

Start with a primer; one that I’ve used, recommended tons of times, and really like is Estée Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer, $36 (review). It can be used by nearly all skin types, helps to control oil and shine, and gives your makeup a good base.

Next up is choosing a foundation. I love the new NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF 30, $44 (review). This foundation has a soft focus finish with sheer (to medium), shine free coverage. Love!

There’s nothing worse than feeling like your eyeshadow is sliding off your face. Yes, using a primer will help, but I like stay-put matte formulas during the summer months. One of the newest will.not.budge. products I’ve tried is MAC Pro Longwear Waterproof Colour Sticks, $22 (review). Long-wearing and sweat, water and crease-proof, these Colour Sticks are great for summer.

For waterproof lining and mascara, I turn to CHANEL, and have for years. The Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner, $33 in Sable is a good neutral shade. For mascara, I love CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara $32. Offering volume, curl and separation, this is a mascara I can’t live without in the summer…so good!

For palettes, I’m loving the brand new Smashbox Photo Matte Eye Palette. This is a multitasking, 12-pan neutral palette with shadow, liner and brow powder. Each shade can be used wet or dry and it also comes with it’s own liner/shadow brush. Seriously good!

For a matte blush, I like Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush, $28; it has fantastic color payoff and staying powder. I have Captivating, which is a peachy-toned blush that pairs well with your bronzer.

And for bronzer, you can’t go wrong with the Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer ($30). This bronzer comes in three shades for a very natural look, smells like chocolate and is very pigmented.

Now to the lips. With so.many.matte.formulas out there, where to even start? This season, there are no shortage of options! Hot off the press are the new Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipsticks, $24. This all-day formula has excellent pigmentation, is comfortable on the lips and comes in 20 shades.

For lipstick, I really love the new Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks, $17 (review). This new release features a variety of finishes, approximately 30 of them matte. What says summer more than Savage; an electric pink Mega Matte? A must-have, available 6/9.
