President and ceo of Penguin Random House Canada Brad Martin announced Tuesday that all of the company's adult imprints, including Penguin Canada, McClelland & Stewart, and Random House of Canada, will be united under a single division, the Penguin Random House Canada Publishing Group, led by president and publisher Kristin Cochrane. In addition, all of the company's children's imprints, including Doubleday Children's, Razorbill, and Tundra Books, will go forward under a single division, Penguin Random House Canada Children's Publishing Group, led by publisher Tara Walker.
Martin said in the announcement that the new structure will "retain and strengthen the unique and autonomous nature of each imprint, while also being more strategic and efficient within our respective publishing programs going forward." Cochrane, who has been with the company for more than 10 years, continues to report to Martin. Walker now reports to Cochrane, as does Penguin Books Canada publisher and vp, Penguin Random House Canada Nicole Winstanley.
The remaining Penguin Random House Canada publishing senior leadership remains unchanged and continues to report to Cochrane. Head of Penguin Canada publicity Erin Kelly reports to Turriiff.
As a result of the restructuring, Random House of Canada director of publicity Nicola Makoway is departing after more than 8 years with the company. "Nicola has worked with many notable authors during her eight years with the company. We value the contributions she has made and wish her well for the future," Martin said in the announcement.
