City of Calgary operates a wide range of recreation facilities, including pools and arenas

City of Calgary recreation guide for fall 2013 is on the stands now.

The City of Calgary Fall Recreation Program Guide is out and Calgarians looking to stay active, have fun and learn new things will have plenty of options.

New classes have been added for a wide variety of activities.

“Being active is one of the most important things we can do to stay healthy and energized no matter what age we are,” said Michelle Tait, recreation supervisor.

“The City of Calgary continues to add and update what we offer to ensure there is something for everyone looking to stay active and have fun while doing it.”

Dozens of new programs including Create Your Own Indoor Garden, Yoga – Y.E.S and Conditioning for Dance are being offered this fall, which runs from September to December.

Swimming is a popular program for families.

“We will be signing up the little ones for swimming lessons,” says Beacon reader Christopher Jones.

Tammy Johnston agrees. “I’m looking for swimming lessons for my Princess.”

In addition, there are several fun and festive holiday programs to help keep families busy over the holiday break. Parents can register their children in Santa’s Art Workshop or head out to one of 12 arenas to enjoy a public skate.

“Calgarians will be able to build their fitness level in a kickboxing class, discover their sense of rhythm in a belly dance lesson or grab some pool time at one of The City’s leisure centres or indoor pools,” said Tait.

The City’s Fall Recreation Program Guide is on stands now and registration starts Monday, August 12.
