Robi Axiata Limited, one of the leading mobile phone operators of the country has launched electricity bill payment service facility for Power Development Board (PDB) at Rajshahi. Robi believes that this will facilitate a reliable and convenient mechanism for the clients of PDB to pay their monthly electricity bills.
Robi’s system for mobile payment of electricity bills will be integrated with the PDB’s electricity billing system. Hence, electricity bills paid through Robi’s electricity bill payment system will be updated on PDB’s billing system on real time basis. PDB clients may choose to pay their electricity bills either through Robi Cash Points or through their mobile phone.
Mobile users will get an automatic SMS regarding their monthly electricity bill payment dues. Besides, they will get a reminder SMS prior to the payment deadline lest they forget to pay the dues. Moreover, once they pay the electricity bill they will get an immediate confirmation of the payment. Hence, Robi mobile electricity bill payment system is completely secure and reliable.
PDB clients in Rajshahi, Natore , Pabna , Naugaon , Bogra, Chapainobabganj, Joypurhat and Sirajganj districts will be able to avail this facility under Rajshahi region. Out of 6 regions of PDB’s mobile electricity payment zones; Robi is currently offering the service to Rajshahi, Comilla and Mymensingh region. Robi has recently won the right to collect electricity bills in Rajshahi region from PDB through a competitive tendering process beating other mobile phone operators.
Md. Shahriar Alam, MP; Hon’ble State Minister for Ministry of Foreign Affairs was present in the inauguration program as the Chief Guest. Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Rajshahi-2 constituency; Mr. Fazle Hossain Badshah was present as the Guest of Honor. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Rafiqul Alam Beg, Vice-Chancellor, Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology; Md. Iqbal Bahar, PPM, DIG, Bangladesh Police; Mohammad Mesbah Uddin Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner, Rajshhai and Engr. MD Abduhu Ruhullah, Chairman, Power Development Board (PDB) were present on the occasion as Special Guests.
MD & CEO of Robi Axiata Limited; Supun Weerasinghe; A M Masud Al Faruk, Chief Engineer, PDB, Rajshahi and number of official from Robi and PDB were also present in the launching program.
In the launching program, Mr. Shah Jalal Uddin, Head of Business Operations, Digital Services from Robi demonstrated how a customer could pay their monthly electricity bills using the Robi mobile bill pay service. On the other hand, Engr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman, Sr. System Analyst from PDB introduced the audience with the mobile bill payment system modality. To make it more enjoyable for the audience the local traditional art form known as Gambhira was used to highlight the convenience offered by the Robi mobile electricity bill payment system.
