Prime Bank Limited and JCB International (JCBI), the international operations subsidiary of JCB Co., Ltd., on Wednesday announced that Prime Bank has launched the first JCB card in Bangladesh. Prime Bank will now issue JCB credit and debit card to the Bangladeshi people who can enjoy JCB’s global merchant network with over 26 million acceptance locations. Bangladesh is the 17th country where JCB card is issued.

Prime Bank and JCB have been developing their partnership since entering an acquiring license agreement in April 2013, and are committed to expanding JCB card acceptance in major areas for tourists such as Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar, and Chittagong. The Prime Bank – JCB card is designed to bring beneficial payment life to the people in Bangladesh, offering year-round discount promotions at popular retail stores and restaurants in the region. Such discount promotions also include Japanese restaurants and Japanese related retail stores, reflecting the unique characteristics of the JCB brand.

In the launching ceremony held today, Chairman of Prime Bank, Mr. Azam J Chowdhury said, “Prime Bank is launching JCB cards in Bangladesh as part of its relentless efforts to provide its customers newer and wider range of payment services. I am sure Prime Bank – JCB card will attain significant business success in coming days.” He also said, “I am happy that with the issuance of JCB card in Bangladesh, Prime Bank is enabling its customers to get the advantage of the plastic money across the globe.”

More and more people are expected to choose card payment over cash payment.
