Job Description / Responsibility:

DFID Bangladesh in Dhaka announces the following vacancy within its Human Development Team: Deputy Programme Manager – at DFID Grade B2. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join one of the biggest Human Development teams in DFID, which encompasses education and health programmes.

To undertake Project Officer responsibilities for specific projects and programmes (currently Developing Midwifery Project and icddr,b Research Project), ensuring that all relevant project management tasks are consistent with DFID’s rules requirements and other aspects of corporate compliances.

To act as the Finance Officer for the health team, ensuring team’s forecasts are up to date and financial disbursements are made on time.

To act as the “ARIES Inputter” for health projects and programmes, ensuring the quality and accuracy of all forecasts, budgets and other financial information loaded on to the internal DFID information management system (ARIES).

To undertake cross-office tasks and make a positive contribution to the effective operation of DFID Bangladesh.

Job Nature:

This is a permanent contract on local terms and conditions, expected to start in late September - early October 2015.

Educational Requirements:

University degree - Masters in Business Administration or Development Studies is preferable.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years work experience including some work in development or public health.

Excellent written and spoken English.

Good knowledge of computer systems.

Ability to develop effective working relationship with partners and team members.

Effective communication and negotiation skills.

The ability to operate independently without close supervision.

Flexibility and ability to adjust priorities to meet changing demands.

Aptitude to rapidly become familiar with DFID internal systems and processes.

Salary Range:

The salary range for B2 level is BDT 63,023 – 146,644 per month.
