Responsibilities
Assists staff in planning and implementing quality programs, consistent and in accordance with YMCA standards.
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the regulations and operating standards of the YMCA of Greater Toronto, municipal and provincial governments and ensures programs run in accordance to these directives.
Develops and demonstrates an awareness and understanding of community and responds to identified needs. Develops and sustains good relations with school principals and school staff. Develops and sustains good working relationships with provincial and municipal authorities.
Ensures all data requirements of the provincial funder and local school board are accurately completed in the timelines provide; assists in managing program financial plans and to achieve program nets.
Develops and sustains good working relationships with multi-location team, acting as a role model for staff, while providing coaching and mentoring to the team; assists with leadership and assists in planning and implementing staff meetings and team trainings; shares resources and assists other programs as required.
Attends professional development workshops, trainings and meetings.
Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association. Represents the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner.
Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Children's Aid Society.
Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
ECE diploma
Must be registered and a member in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
Minimum of 2 years previous experience in children or family programs
Previous experience in providing coaching to colleagues preferred
A capacity to give leadership to and to develop management skills
Ability to work within a multi-service, charitable organization
Knowledge and understanding of YMCA School Age curriculum, the Day Nurseries Act and Region of Toronto Municipal Operating Criteria
Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities
Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
Excellent written communication skills
Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
All staff working with children are required under the Child Care and Early Years Act to have a valid standard first aid certification including infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) prior to the first day of work
