(Child Care) Northlea Community Child Care (NCCC) centre is a fully licensed not for profit organization attached to the Northlea Public School. We provide care for 235 children from 1.5 to 12 years of age. We are currently looking for an amazing, professional, and experienced Administrator to join our Team!
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Director is responsible for all areas in managing the centre including leading 3 full-time office staff, 11 full-time staff, 4 permanent part-time staff and 6 contract employees. The Director is responsible for financial management, human resource management and administration, maintenance of licensing regulations, programme supervision and quality, as well as marketing and promoting the centre to prospective families. The Director leads, coaches and guides the RECE teachers and assistants in carrying out a quality programme in accordance with the established guidelines set out in relevant Government acts and regulations governing child care (e.g. the Early Years Childcare Act).The Director must develop and maintain relationships with families involved with the child care, the Community, Northlea Public School and the Board of Directors. This role reports into the Board of Directors.
The successful candidate will have proven leadership and management skills, excellent human resource management knowledge and skills, clear communication skills, strong financial and business acumen, knowledge of early childhood development and licensed child care, and the ability to network effectively
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Overall management of the Centre
Responsible for program design, delivery and daily operations
Ensures the health, safety and well-being of children and staff in the Centre
Responsible for program enrolment, marketing and promotion
Organizes parent meetings and ensures that parents are kept well informed
Keeps up to date and accurate confidential records on staff and children
Ensures that the Centre is compliant with all legislation, procedures
Actively works with the Board and its members
Management of all financial aspects of the Centre
Monitor revenue and expenditures to ensure that the Centre operates within the budget.
Participate with the Finance committee and the Board of Directors in budget planning (short-term and long-term) and finance management
Prepare City of Toronto budget
Maintain all financial aspects of programme operation in co-operation with Finance committee and bookkeeper as needed
Prepare and submit parent tax receipts, staff T4 slips, T4 summary and Charitable status summary
Public relations & communication
Maintains positive community relations through attending outside meetings and committees, networking with community agencies, accessing the changing needs of the community, etc.
Responds to inquiries and requests from the community and outside organizations (e.g., Public Health Department, ministry of Community, Family and Childrens services, Toronto Childrens services, Fire department, community colleges, Toronto Board of Education, the community etc.)
Communicates positively and purposefully with children, parents, staff, students and other adults in the programme and in the community; establishes and maintains good and regular communication with the school personnel (eg., the principal, teachers, librarian, caretakers and office staff), plans organizes and co-ordinates meetings as necessary to facilitate good staff/parent communication
Resolves parent complaints through excellence in customer service and adherence to NCCC guidelines and efficient follow up
Leadership and management of Centre staff
Motivates, coaches, manages and leads NCCC staff. This includes recruitment, performance management, attendance management, development and training of staff (e.g., health and safety training, etc.)
Promotes open communication and teamwork with all staff through personal example and use of positive employee relations techniques
Manages staff schedules, staff ratios and arrangement for supply staff
Ensures all administrative tasks (including book keeping, hiring, termination, correspondence, inventory, notices, purchases, payroll, etc) are assigned and carried out effectively according to NCCCs policy
Qualifications
RECE in good standing with a minimum of 5 years full time experience as a Director/supervisor in childcare Centres providing care to children from 1.5 12 years of age
Sound understanding of accounting and budget principles for child care. Ability to complete AR/AP and Account Reconciliation, Payroll experience (Ceridian software)
Excellent leadership, managerial and organizational skills
Demonstrates a positive and energetic attitude in all aspects of the operation of the centre (e.g.: programme design and delivery, staff morale, dealing with the children, etc.)
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to children, parents, staff and school personnel
Excellent conflict management resolution and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
Strong business acumen of daycares and ability to stay current on trends in the industry
Ability to develop and implement innovative strategies to drive community awareness, increase applications, and ensure a strong presence in North Leaside.
Human Resources Training certificate, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act AODA) Integrated Accessibility Standard and Human Rights Training
WHMIS train the trainer certified
Demonstrates an excellent understanding of the government regulations governing childcare, licensing and the City of Toronto regulations: their implications and implementation
Strong Understanding of ELECT framework, How Does Learning Happen, and AQI (City of Toronto Quality Assurance Assessment Tool)
Strong understanding of CSIS and CCLS systems
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft QuickBooks and Excel
Holds current First Aid Level C and CPR certification
