The Colgate University Libraries seek a collaborative, experienced, forward-thinking leader as Associate University Librarian. Reporting to the University Librarian and serving on the senior management team, the Associate University Librarian assists the University Librarian with overall administration of the libraries particularly insuring that plans for the libraries’ strategic initiatives are communicated to all library stakeholders and are well planned, implemented, and assessed. Additionally, this position provides leadership, vision, and management for two important areas: (1) develop and sustain the Colgate Libraries’ staff and faculty library professional development program and (2) lead efforts to design systematic and sustainable approaches to scholarly communications outreach, manage the Digital Commons Repository, and design new services that support the broadest possible dissemination of scholarly output. Supports the University Librarian in vetting and advancing new ideas, initiatives, and strategic plans and fostering a culture of collaboration and communication.
Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree from an ALA-accredited library school or program. Five years of progressively responsible experience in library management and public services. Two years of direct supervision of support staff and/or librarians. Strong organizational skills and written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. Strong service orientation with the ability to interact positively with students, faculty, and the public.
