Elman Joseph (Joe) Gracia, age 90, of Harriman, passed away Tuesday, July 28. At the young age of eighteen he began his military career as a Seaman with the United States Navy. Joe received several ribbons and medals of Honor while serving in World War II, including the WWII Victory Medal, American Area Ribbon and European African Middle Eastern Area Ribbon. A tribute to Joe’s life will be held 11:30 a.m., Thursday, in the Rotunda at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville with full military honors being conducted by the East Tennessee State Veterans Honor Guard.
