Position: Program Manager

Description: The Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA) provides support to the United Arab Emirates National Defense College (UAE-NDC) through a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case. NESA builds partner relations in the Middle East region and fosters relationships. NDC is a leading institute that contributes to the development of strategic thinking and strategic and security studies at national, regional and international levels. NDC prepares both military and civilian leaders by improving their ability to assess challenges to national, regional and international security. In addition, NDC helps students develop an understanding of the requirements for managing state resources in order to defend national interests. NDC is set to become the premier institution for government strategic and security studies in the region.
NESA is seeking one qualified . citizen candidate for the post of Program Manager at the UAE NDC. Working for Advisor to the Planning Wing Commander, full time in Abu Dhabi, the successful candidate will provide program management oversight and administrative support of NESA’s UAE NDC program, including personnel. As time allows, a secondary duty is to act as NESA’s in-region POC for collaboration and enhancement of programs and engagements.
The successful candidate will act as NESA Program Manager at the UAE NDC and conduct the following activities:
• Support and manage timelines of FMS Case implementation, Accreditation, Curriculum/Faculty Development/Student implementation and overall NDC establishment.
• Address new requirements and areas of concern with NESA, provide recommendations and identify solutions where applicable and execute accordingly.
• Coordinate daily tasks with NDC management personnel and facilitate weekly review meetings across all components.
• Provide appropriate oversight of Library facilitation and administrative functions tied to the curriculum development process.
• Identify areas of need as they arise, provide recommendations to NESA and resource appropriately.
• Provide administrative support (to include housing, transport, travel etc) for the FMS case personnel and as directed.
• Facilitate necessary requirements to support guest lecturers, seminars and Symposiums.
Qualifications:
Required Education: a Masters degree. is desired; applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree, plus exceptional, relevant experience.
Required Skills/Experience: Successful candidates will have an excellent track record in program management and in academic administration for higher education, as well as experience of managing teams and resources within an academic environment. Excellent communication skills, a strategic focus and an awareness of national and international program management trends in higher education is a must. Must have at least three (3) years of relevant program management experience at an accredited university/college.
Desired Skills:
• Previous experience working in the Middle East and/or demonstrated expertise working in an adult learning environment in a multi-national, multi-cultural setting are also highly desired.
• International experience could include but not be limited to living abroad in a multi-cultural environment, particularly in the Gulf Region.
• Arabic language proficiency is desired but all courses will be conducted in English.
• PRINCE II or other such program management credentials may give applicants an advantage
