GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This position provides medication services and education to dialysis patients and authorized caregivers in clinical settings to support and maximize the patient’s well-being.
Note: All duties are performed in accordance with DaVita policies &
procedures, Kingdom and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive.

The Pharmacist works in the DaVita Dialysis center and is an expert in the field of medicines. The pharmacist is not only responsible for the dispensing of prescriptions but also the procurement of all medicines used in our centers. Pharmacists work closely with medical and nursing teammates to ensure that patients receive the best treatment. Pharmacists also provide help and advice to patients in all aspects of their medicines.

The pharmacist performs specialized/complex pharmacist duties consistent with the role and responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to:
• checking prescriptions to ensure that there are no errors and that they are appropriate and safe for the individual patient;
• providing advice on the dosage of medicines and the most appropriate form of medication, for example, tablet, injection, ointment or inhaler;
• publish educational information for other pharmacists, doctors, and/or patients.
• participating in rounds, taking patient drug histories and involvement in decision-making on appropriate treatments;
• discussing treatments with patients and/or patients' relatives, community pharmacists and GPs;
• ensuring medicines are stored appropriately and securely;
• checking and documenting the medications at least on a monthly
• supervising the work of less experienced and less qualified staff;
• keeping up to date with research and development;
• writing guidelines for drug use within the center and implementing center regulations;
• providing information on expenditure on drugs;
• preparing and quality-checking sterile medications, for example, intravenous medications;
• setting up and supervising clinical trials.

More experienced pharmacists may be involved in teaching DaVita teammates and new pharmacists that will join DaVita.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required.
• Successfully complete a four-year pharmacy degree course (MPharm), which must be accredited
• Complete two-year's pre-registration (pre-reg) training in a hospital
• Fluency in English and Arabic, in both spoken and written form
Candidates need to show evidence of the following:
• Ability to work carefully, methodically and accurately - this is vital as mistakes could prove fatal;
• Computer literacy;
• Adequate vision to perform the essential duties of the position, including repetitive use of computer screens
• Interpersonal skills and a caring and sympathetic manner, as the work usually involves contact with patients in the center;
• A responsible attitude to work;
• General clinical awareness.
