Role Summary/Purpose
To carry out fault-finding, upgrades and general service work on DP and Automation systems.
Essential Responsibilities
MAIN TASKS AND ACTIVITIES Checking that company and suppliers' equipment is installed in a safe and operable condition in accordance with the designed requirements. Servicing of DP and Automation Systems based on networked computer and PLC equipment and SCADA systems. On marine projects these systems include peripherals such as Taut Wire, GPS, Sonar Vessel Position Measurement Equipment, UPS systems, Laser Systems and Joystick controls. Including system tuning and modifications and setting to work. Servicing, fault-finding and training on Automation Systems and Dynamic Positioning Systems ranging from legacy equipment to modern systems. To update as-commissioned documentation/drawings following modifications in accordance with independently audited Company Quality and Safety Management Systems e.g. BS EN 18001 and Classification Societies e.g. Lloyds Register and DNV. HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES Production of Risk Assessments and Method Statements, in accordance with the requirements of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations and other relevant legislation such as the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations. To provide appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision to others to enable them to comply with health and safety legislation. Must be competent and certified as such to work safely on site within the prescribed voltage levels. The above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and incumbents are expected to undertake all reasonable duties as requested.
Qualifications/Requirements
Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering from a reputable College or University.PLC software familiarity (ladder diagram, functional block diagram, etc.). Ability to create PLC software functions and analyse software functionality.Hardware familiarity, including PLCs, PCs, network equipment, etc..Must have established record of site work.Presentable.Good communication skills, written and verbal in English.Self-Motivated, Dynamic.Able to work independently of others with minimal support in a customer facing environment. This is a highly demanding role frequently working under pressure. Customer-focused.CircumstancesClean Driving Licence.Flexible attitude to working pattern.Willing and eligible to work world-wide and offshore
Desired Characteristics
Valid Offshore survival training certificateValid Passport to Safety training certificate, IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.Recognised Health and Safety training in risk assessment.Familiarity with IEC and marine classification society rules.Knowledge of programming techniques and languages.Marine and Offshore experienced.Familiarity with ISaGRAF, P80i, Iconics, etc.Familiarity with AMCs, PCs, network equipment, WAGO I/O, ALSPA PLCs, PowerPCs etc.
