JOB PURPOSE / ROLE:
To lead & direct all aspects of the company’s media strategies through events, diversified media (traditional & social) & public relations programs & to oversee & validate external communications on behalf of the bank in order to accrue value to the company’s brand through national & international exposure & coordination. To oversee any official publication or meeting ensuring that it is in compliance with the company’s media guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management
- Manage the effective achievement of objectives through setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing & motivating staff, provision of formal & informal feedback & appraisal in order to maximise subordinate & the overall performance.
- Ensure effective communication of business objectives across the Media & PR function in order to create a line of sight between individual jobholders & the Media & PR strategy.
Organisation Structure
- Recommend an optimum organisation structure so that resources are optimally utilised & communication can take place in an efficient manner.
Budgets & Plans
- Prepare & recommend the budget & monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, & areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly & potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.
Social Media
- Oversee & sign off corporate content on social media platforms & ensure it is posted in a timely manner.
- Direct the Social media platform (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc) in order to ensure that the bank is well promoted & that the promotions reach to the target audience & enhance the image of the company.
- Review Social media reports for topics related to organisational image, general awareness & positioning of the company to ensure they are circulated internally & are used in future promotions.
Traditional Media & Agency Relations
- Direct the development & management of professional relations with external media in order to develop effective relationships to promote the bank’s image, its activities & major events.
- Manage relationship with PR agencies in order to review, assess & report on the extent & impact of media coverage as well as evaluate the effectiveness of media & communication programs.
Press Releases & External Communication
- Direct the delivery & issuance of all external communications (e.g. press releases, tweets) in accordance with the overall bank strategy for Public Relations ensuring proper journalistic style & compliance with the established procedures for the company’s press releases.
- Implement external communication policies & procedures for both traditional & social media to ensure alignment with the company’s guidelines of external communication.
- Manage effective publicity in order to minimise adverse impact on bank’s image & credibility.
- Identify negative or threatening media issues or inquiries & exhibit leadership in developing strategic & timely responses in order to minimize any damage to the image of the company.
Public Relations
- Plan, develop & implement PR strategies in order to enhance bank’s image as a responsible corporate citizen.
- Develop & implement public relations strategies & act as main point of contact for government officials & media (editors, reporters) to ensure fair representation at all times.
- Maintain solid relationships with customers & government officials to ensure that the company can draw upon these relationships whenever needed.
Sponsorships & Corporate Social Initiatives
- Identify potential high impact sponsorship opportunities in Kuwait to ensure the company participates in the sponsorship of main events.
- Approve requests for large sponsorships to ensure an association with large, big ticket events promoting the the company’s brand.
