Gujarat is paying rich tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary as the entire state will observe two minutes silence at 11 am.
All-religion prayer meetings have been organised at the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad and Kirti Mandir in Porbandar, the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi.
Prominent leaders from various political parties and other dignitaries will pay floral tributes to the father of the nation at his Samadhi Rajghat in New Delhi.
The day is also observed as Martyrs` Day. On this day in 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated at a prayer meeting.

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 67th death anniversary at Raj Ghat.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and shared his reverence for the Father of the Nation on twitter.
