Right now there are three major trends that are constantly catching my eye: pop art, textured nail polish and mixed pattern black and white! Today, as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias, I'm showing how to combine these fun trends using Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat and Xtreme Wear nail polishes. #IHeartMyNailArt and I can't wait for you to try these textured nail art tutorials! Textured nail polish was certainly not invented yesterday, but I know there are many people who have yet to try it out. My hope today is that you will be inspired to try it out as a way to add character to your manicure. When you realize how simple it can be to create elegant, trendy nails at home, you will have the confidence to play around and bring your own inspirations to life. 
Your first step in the tutorial is to grab your supplies. I've had my eye on Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat textured polishes for a few weeks, so I headed to my favorite beauty retailer, Walgreens. I did a little bit of homework ahead of time and came armed with a list of my top color choices as well as my balance rewards card and a macchiato of course. I found everything I needed and will list all the items I used in the tutorials that follow.
The first look I created looks chic, modern and is a great representation of the mixed pattern black and white trend seen recently on high fashion runways. I love the stripes, houndstooth, and unconventional patterns that really pop and dazzle your eyes with the contrasting black and white. This trendy textured nail art look is quite simple to do, and is perfect for anyone who has never tried nail art and wants to experiment.
Starting with a base coat, apply two coats of Sally Hansen Xtremewear in "White On", followed by a top coat; let dry completely. Next, tear a small piece of invisible tape and stick it to your skin a couple of times to remove some of the stickiness, apply at a diagonal to your fingernail making sure to press down on the outer edges. Repeat this step until all nails have been taped. Using Sally Hansen Xtremewear in "Black Out" apply two coats of polish to your thumb, pinkie and ring fingers. Next, apply two coats of Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat in "Tweedy" to the middle and index fingers. Go back to your nails that have Black Out and pulling from the bottom up and away, slowly remove the tape. Remove the tape from your remaining two fingers in the same way. Finish with a generous top coat and let dry completely.
I love the way these trendy black and white nails turned out! As I mentioned earlier, there is another trend I'm loving and that is the return of pop art. I am pretty sure that nothing gets away with blasting bright neon colors as much as pop art! I immediately knew that I had to come up with a textured pop art nail design to share with you, so you are getting a two for one special today!
Now, this design is definitely a bit more complex than the first so I'd say you have to be at least intermediate in your nail art skills to not get frustrated in the process. I'd also recommend you have a quick drying top coat to speed things along. In addition to picking out some fabulous bright colors for this design, you will also need a black dual tip sharpie and invisible tape.
1. Okay, you are going to start our with a base coat, followed by two coats of Sally Hansen Xtremewear in "Mellow Yellow" and a top coat. This is your base, let it dry completely before you proceed. Next you are going to use the same taping method explained above, only you are taping at the midline of your nail, so that one half of your nail is taped. Repeat this step until all nails are taped except your thumb. Next, using two coats of Sally Hansen in "Green with Envy" paint the uncovered side of your nails. Slowly remove the tape and then let this layer of polish dry completely. When dry, apply tape to the top half of your nails.
2. Apply two coats of Sally Hansen Xtremewear "Fuchsia Power" to the bottom half of your nails. Slowly remove the tape as you did before. Let dry completely. When nails are dry, apply tape to section off the bottom right corner section. Do this step until all fingers (except thumb) have been taped. Paint the exposed corner with two coats of Sally Hansen "Blue Me Away".
3. While your fingers are drying, cut out a star shape out of a piece of tape. This part is a little tricky - once you've cut out a star, you need to then cut along the inside of the star to make a stencil. Once done, stick it in place on your thumb nail. Add two coats of Sally Hansen "White On" inside the star, wait about 30-60 seconds and then carefully remove the tape. Now to add the texture. I applied Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat in "Fuzzy Fantasy" to a different color corner on each nail. You could variate and do the whole nail if you wanted to. After your thumb nail is dry, use the thicker end of the black sharpie and outline the star, add a fun word to the inside of the star using the thin end of the marker. Lastly, ad a bit of texture to the yellow outside the star. Finish your nails with a topcoat, and then add your black lines for that pop of contrast.
