Huge news today, as Henry announced he's headed to Canada (in the middle of winter) to shoot Nomis. He'll be joined by costars Sir Ben Kingsley and Alexandra Daddario.

We don't know much about the plot, other than it's being described as a psychological thriller by his excited manager.

David Raymond (head of Arise Pictures) will be directing, and we can't wait to bring you updates on this film as they develop.

One of our readers found this article that hints at production possibly happening in the Okanagan area, but it's from more than a year ago so things could have (very possibly) changed:

Hollywood needs your help finding the perfect Okanagan house for 'creepy' thriller

by Charlotte Helston (March 16 2016)
Film crews are scouring the Okanagan for an old, isolated house where you can’t see any neighbours and no one can hear you scream.

The location would be for a psychological thriller called Nomis, written and directed by David Raymond and produced by Enderby Entertainment, known for the movie Blackway.

Jon Summerland with the Okanagan Film Commission says they need to find an old, decrepit, decaying castle-type house.

“The idea has to feel like this house in the middle of nowhere is almost a prison. The people who are there have nowhere to go — you can’t see neighbours, can’t hear neighbours, you can’t see a road.

You’ve got to feel like there’s nowhere you can go to get away from this almost a fortress, prison-type thing,” Summerland says.

Finding the perfect house has proven challenging, and Summerland is asking anyone with leads to get in touch with the film commission.

“The house is the driver and the difficult one. Once we nail down this house — unless it becomes something else maybe — I’m confident everything else will be easy,” Summerland says.

If the scouting search is successful, Nomis could begin shooting in late August or early September.

Other regions are being considered and it’s not guaranteed the movie will be filmed in the Okanagan.

Rick Dugdale, with Enderby Entertainment, says he had an incredible experience shooting Blackway in the North Okanagan and welcomes the opportunity to return home. The A.L. Fortune Secondary grad grew up in Enderby and now lives in Los Angeles.

With the search for a vintage-looking house proving difficult, Dugdale says they are looking at creative solutions and ways of possibly adapting the story to a different type of building.

“We have some options for sure,” Dugdale says.

The cast for Nomis is coming together, with "recognizable names and people we may have worked with in the past," Dugdale says. He’s not saying much about the movie itself, which he describes as dark and suspenseful — something in the vein of Gone Girl meets Seven.

“The reason we can’t give away too much is it’s so full of twists and turns, we have to be careful not to give it away too soon,” Dugdale says.

Enderby Entertainment is also exploring the possibility of bringing a different film to the Kelowna area, possibly early next year. With the low Canadian dollar, he says it’s economically beneficial to shoot this side of the border.

Thriller scouting area

They need a large, older-style home that’s so secluded, neighbours won’t hear any screaming.

Producer Rick Dugdale and writer/director David Raymond arrived in the North Okanagan Thursday to scout locations for their next film, Nomis.

“It’s a psychological thriller similar to Seven. It’s a dark thriller,” Dugdale told The Morning Star.

Because of the film’s theme, there is a need to locate a vintage house sitting in the bush or not near any other homes.

“If you stood on the lawn and looked around, you can’t see anything,” said Jon Summerland, with the Okanagan Film Commission.

It’s anticipated filming for Nomis will begin in late August or early September, and while other communities are being scouted, the North Okanagan is the likely choice.

“We’ve done it twice here before and in the independent sector, you need comfort with where you are,” said Dugdale.

An Enderby native, Dugdale is preparing to unveil Blackway (formerly known as Go with Me) June 10. It was shot in Enderby, Armstrong, Lumby and Vernon in late 2014.

“We will be able to put the band back together,” he said of using the crew from Blackway.

“It makes economical sense, which makes it work for us.”

Another major factor is the low Canadian dollar makes it cheaper to work here than in the U.S.

“The film commission has also been great to deal with. Jon Summerland works hard,” said Dugdale.
Four to five lead actors for Nomis will come from Los Angeles.

“It will be cast at the same level as Blackway. You’d definitely recognize the talent. Everyone knows who they are,” said Dugdale, without providing further details.

Blackway starred Anthony Hopkins, Ray Liotta, Alexander Ludwig and Julia Stiles, and some of them may be back in the North Okanagan for the film’s release.

“It will play in the Okanagan and we will have a big spectacle event,” said Dugdale. “We are working out what cast can attend.”

This is the first time in the North Okanagan for British-born Raymond, who is best known for The Other Man, Sins and Absence of War. He has been impressed by what he sees and he insists Dugdale is committed to the region.

“You hear a passion from him. It seeps into everyone involved. It makes it personal,” said Raymond.
