The classes in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 combine aspects from the Demolition and Specialist classes to form 4 broader classes. Each with their own area of combat. Each class has 7 primary weapons unique to each class and 9 primary weapons which each class can use. They also have 5 pistols and a tracer dart pistol which all classes can use.

In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the Assault class is very similar to the Assault kit from the original Battlefield: Bad Company, although the auto-injectors are lost due to the different health system. The Assault kit is equipped with an all-purpose Assault Rifle, as well as an under-barrel grenade launcher and Ammunition boxes for resupplying ammunition. Assault soldiers may also equip smoke grenade rounds for the 40mm launcher, or shotgun rounds for close combat. The assault rifles are excellent at engaging at close-medium ranges, whilst the default 40mm grenade launchers are able to easily destroy cover and light vehicles. If the weapon is swapped for an all-kit weapon, like a shotgun, the grenade launcher is replaced by sticks of C4 explosive and a detonator.

The Medic class in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a combination of the Medic and Support classes from Battlefield 2. While retaining the defibrillator and medkits, the Medic class carries the light machine guns the Support class used to have. The Medic has also been drastically changed to fit with the game and is considered the "team player" because of the Medic's ability to being able to keep team-mates alive in the heat of battle. The light or medium machine guns available are ideal for anti-infantry work, due to their large magazines and high accuracy, although burst firing is a good tactic due to the long reloads. The machine guns can also be used to provide heavy fire support and devastating suppressive fire, as the high fire rates and large magazines allow players to lay down lots of fire very quickly. The more accurate ones, such as the M60, are well suited for picking off enemies from mid range, whilst the fast-firing ones, like the MG3, are absolutely devastating in confined spaces and at close-medium ranges.
