We’ve just had the pleasure of hearing about the iConsole Micro that’s launching later today at MWC in Barcelona. It’s a combination of a tailored i86 Android build and an incredibly small USB-powered PC-on-a-stick and should excite anyone into small-form-factor computing, gaming, home theatre and security.

Remember the Intel Compute Stick? It’s a quad-core Atom PC inside an HDMI dongle with USB 2.0, WiFi, MicroSD slot and of course, HDMI connectivity. Console Inc, the company that continues to develop ConsoleOS is now bringing that experience pre-installed on exactly that hardware. That’s Android KitKat, enhanced with non-touch support and the Amazon store installed on some nice, flexible i86 hardware. Gaming, education, productivity and security come immediately to mind. They’ve also announced that they’re close to releasing Android 5.0 to their Kickstarter backers.

The iConsole Micro press release will go out later today but we can already reveal that it will cost just $129. This is a global product and should be shipping in Q1.

Christopher Price, CEO of Console Inc, gave us the scoop on our Techlounge live channel from MWC15 and we took 30-minutes to talk about a ton of scenarios. We also talked about the move to Android 5.0, the advantage of open-source and emerging markets. [We’ll link that video in below as soon as it’s been uploaded later today bit for now, take a look at our hands-on from CES.]

Console OS KitKat is already shipping and is now a free download on the iConsole website so while you’re waiting for the order page to go live you can download and install it yourself.
