There are over 100 different styles of beer* and they can all be classified as either ales or lagers depending on whether they sink or swim. The yeast that is. Ales are top fermented, meaning their yeast floats, swimming around the top of the vessel, while bottom fermenting lagers use yeast that sinks to the base of the container.
This new poster charts the most common types of beer with approximately 87% of the styles mapped out. Its a sequel to the original artwork and even more complete. The expanded version features 89 varieties of brews, 200 representative quaffs and eleven barware recommendations for drinking glasses.
