Type
of questions: General Awareness
paper of bank exam i.e. Bank PO & Bank Clerk mainly consists of questions
on current affairs and banking awareness, apart from that there are a maximum of
2-3 questions on conventional GK. In this post we are going to tell you how to
prepare for current affairs part of General Awareness paper as we have already
told you about preparation of Banking Awareness part. You can read the post on
“How to prepare for Banking Awareness” by clicking here. Current Affairs questions
are mainly based on persons and places, banking and financial development,
sports activities, famous books and authors, awards, national and international
events etc.

How
to prepare: You need to prepare
current affairs of last 7-8 months for good preparation of this section. You
need to be very regular in your preparation because continuous preparation is
must for this section. You also need to study important topics thoroughly as
sometime questions are quite deep in nature particularly in
PO

exams. In my view you should devote at least one hour daily towards preparation
of this section, to score very high marks in this section. For scoring high you
need to follow a proper strategy which I am going to advise you. To cover
almost 100% of the current affairs questions you should regularly study at
least two good English news papers (one of them should be financial). I am
emphasizing on English news paper because quality of news in English papers is much
better. You should note down important points in a register or diary on daily
basis. Apart from that you should also read 2-3 good quality monthly magazines
to further strengthen your preparation. You should also attempt at least one
practice set of general awareness daily and should try to finish it in not more
than 10 minutes.  You should also refer
to good websites for regular updates however you should visit only quality
websites other wise they will only waste your time. We are regularly providing
you highly selected questions for bank exams through our website www.onlinegk.org and also through our facebook page on general awareness. You should visit both
these sources as I have tried to select points which are very important for
competitive exams. Discussion is key, so discuss as much as you can with others
who are also preparing for competitive exams. You will agree that once you
discuss a question with somebody you will never forget it. You can also join
our facebook group on Bank Exams Preparation to discuss important points with thousands of
aspirants, preparing for competitive exams.

Important
magazines, newspapers: One thing you
should always remember that you should study only from the quality study
material because poor books or magazine can hamper your preparation seriously. I
would suggest you to regularly go through monthly magazines such as Banking
Services Chronicle, Competition Success Review and Pratiyogita Darpan; these
three are best magazines on current affairs for bank exams as they are almost
100% error free. You should also read newspapers such as “The Hindu” “The Times
of India” and “Economic Times” for better preparation. You should also visit www.onlinegk.org regularly, where you can
find collection of best quality study material on current affairs of last many
months.
