Zayn Malik is ACTIVELY supporting Louis Tomlinson: "They're in touch privately":

He was missing from last night’s X Factor due to commitments in New York, but, while his absence raised eyebrows, we can reveal that Zayn Malik is actively supporting Louis Tomlinson through his mum’s death, despite the geographical distance.

The news, which was confirmed to The Mirror by a representative for Zayn on Sunday, comes shortly after Harry Styles , Niall Horan and Liam Payne regrouped at Wembley Arena for the 24 year-old’s emotionally-charged solo performance.

“Zayn has been in touch with Louis privately, and will continue to offer his support that way,” the spokesperson confirmed, which will no doubt assure One Direction fans.

The clarification comes 24 hours after several social media users wrongly claimed that Zayn was also present at the live show.

One fan account even tweeted: “Zayn [Malik] has just arrived to support Louis tonight! 5/5 are in the building and ready to watch Louis’ performance. Tonight is the first time that 5/5 have all been together since March 2015. They are honestly so supportive of each other. True brothers.”

Since then, however, more reliable sources have assured that the Pillow Talk star was actually still in New York, where he’d attended the Billboard Women In Music event several days earlier.

However, the fans did have a good reason to suggest the reunion may have happened.Hours before the ITV show, Zayn ended a long-standing feud with Louis via a public Twitter message which read: “@Louis_Tomlinson love you bro! All of your family is in my prayers. proud of your strength and know your mum is too x”.

It was the first public correspondence between the young men since they famously engaged in a spat when news of Malik’s emerging solo career first surfaced.

Naturally, all of that drama will be seen in fresh perspective after the passing of Louis’ mum, Johannah Deakin, earlier this week.

The charity stalwart and midwife lost her battle with leukemia on Wednesday aged just 42 - and her dying wish was that her eldest son take to the stage to perform solo single Just Hold On on the X Factor stage.

Just hours before, the One Direction star, who celebrates his 25th birthday on Christmas Eve, took to Twitter to thank fans for their support, saying tonight’s performance would be a collective effort.

The poignant message read: “All the support has been incredible! Let’s do this together tonight.” It was his first tweet since mid October.
