ah darlin, you are preaching to the choir. it truly is the ship of dreams. don’t worry, we are small but mighty.
alas, i think the reason for it’s smallness is that it’s a little quieter. louis and niall are both very loud people, but with each other, they can be very soft and quiet and i think that can give the impression to some people that it isn’t as Much or isn’t as #real as others. naturally, i would argue, by virtue of this quietness, it is more Muchly and #real, but you know.
it’s different than some of the other popular ones, is all. louis and niall are very settled in one another. they don’t get showy about their emotions like I’D DO NIALL or what’s one thing you can’t live without? you. or [insert lilo gatorade gif]. they get focused and intensely supportive, instead.
it’s the kinda ship that’s in the bones and not in the skin.
louis and niall can be very private and close chested about their relationships and themselves. they very much are two people who deeply admire and vehemently support each other and part of that is them constantly, constantly cultivating safe spaces for each other. through affirmations, through check-ins, through distance, even. so, i think part of being a safe space for each other is that they’re a little quiet about their own togetherness, not in an understated way or an avoiding way, but in a way that says, i see you, i see you specially and you are special to me.
i don’t have to shout it to the world, because i whispered it to you and you smiled in return.
sometimes i think, too, in the same way i get overwhelmed about the Depth of my emotions often for nouis (and even more often for ziall), i think nouis get overwhelmed by the Depth of their emotions for each other, so they tend to back away from it a bit. which is a-okay, because just when you least expect it-
