There are pages and pages of data on a very old and still controversial topic of “Subliminal Advertising,” noted horror and thriller author Dean Koontz even had it as the basis of one of his books.
Not long ago, I was far from subtle in a meme I created where if one thinks about it carefully, there are 30 seats in Parliament valid for 5 years, until the majority population decides how they’re shared for another half decade. Below is the icon I created based on a Facebook image…
(CLICK FOR BIGGER) This has a little bad language in it… But this makes the point of how Bajans allow themselves to be incorrectly placed in the food chain if we just pool our resources correctly? Quite a few
yardfowls
supporters of the ruling party found this meme disturbing, wonder why? LOL! Yet I have found the Opposition equally disturbing as one will read anon…
About a fortnight (2 weeks for younger) ago, it was the first time in a while I looked at Print media, and in the Sunday Sun they had a Full Page Ad with spot color, which ain’t cheap… Yet it immediately reminded me of the meme I did. As if someone took the concept and expanded the view yet narrowed the blame? You’ll see what I mean shortly.
This is a copy of what appeared in the Sunday Sun on 25th May, this is extreme subliminal parlaying here – it seems to me the notice is equating Barbadians to the Middle Passage and the Overseers are those in Bay St, etc. My rants on Facebook recently place the population at around 300K but I look at both sides of Parliament, therefore this is a subtle yet important difference in my view, they say 16 meaning DEM’s – this can be construed as a clue to the true identity? (CLICK FOR BIGGER)
I went to the site, unfortunately I did not do a screenshot at the time, it was connected to some countdown clock over an ultimatum allegedly laid down by Denis Lowe regarding the NCC standoff which appears in limbo all now. If one clicks on their link, it now jumps straight to their Facebook page instead, the website is no more.
1st Frame – Look what greets you, the late “Tom” Adams shaking the hand of Sir Neville Nicholls (Where did I hear that name again? Keep reading!) and the Independence Arch which came from Sandi’s reign, okay, some neutrality – but not much…
Now I do not disagree with Refocusing Barbados wanting to awaken the public as to their true significance, what I have a problem with is their claiming to be neutral while so many flags pop up to my trained eye and thus, I am sharing what I consider to be of value before you wildly seek a new bandwagon to vent only to discover it is a previous vintage using not a leather skin, but a vinyl squeeze-bag.
3rd Frame – Scenes of Barbados dissolve to… Owen Arthur, young and in his prime (no pun intended), so no Errol or Lloyd? Refocusing the country exactly HOW??
The videos are what tend to make it a giveaway for me, first of all – let’s break down the opening theme, very dramatic and very neutral yet DLP oriented in a way… Blue and yellow are the recurring paths, but is it a neutral organisation? I have serious doubts, let’s see why, please read the screenshot captions carefully as these are a story within a story…
4th Frame – Here is the most telling Coup D’Etat where it can be thought as if Grantley Adams (father of “Tom” seen at beginning) is handing the mantle of Freedom (via Bussa statue, which ironically also came under Sandi’s reign) over to the erstwhile and present Opposition Leader, Mia Mottley?
If we are looking at Barbadian leadership, do we not examine all 7 Prime Ministers thus far? The opening theme only looks at two of them, plus the current Opposition Leader and a former Premier of Barbados who is also father to the 2nd PM we ever had.
5th Frame – where is poor Freundel? Small and in the middle flying away, yet placed next to cotton pickers whom the same PM Stuart is alleged to have disparaged recently? How neutral is the programming? Can we say SUBLIMINAL MARKETING?
The videos have almost complete unknowns hosting them, Ms “Peppa Fly” Hinds is a better presenter and I think this is due to her Union experience. Whereas MacDonald Nicholls (Any connection to Sir Neville? I told you both captions and main text are inter-locked!) while positing interesting facts and figures is a bit dry and too straightforward but if the videos remain up, look at the first and fourth – his polo shirt if not scarlet then it seems burgundy, which can be felt by some as a true indicator where the social media exercise is derived as Barbados Labour Party usually favors red like Antigua’s Gaston Browne who just returned to Office and the promise of a once rejected mandate has Bees here salivating in hopes they can do 1994 all over again – but they forget Antigua played a role in the deadlock of 14 to 14, it’s where DeLisle Bradshaw went to have surgery during the crucial vote on now Sir Lloyd’s tenure as PM…
While this is the official statement from Refocusing Barbados, why no use of every PM Barbados ever had? In leaving out some is this not a commentary via elision?
The simple truth is if we have Elections right now, I’d be terrified, I think even St John would get washed away in Bees and I do NOT want a situation like Grenada where there is NO Opposition and their PM Keith Mitchell had a clash with Media there not long thereafter, seeking to ramrod laws to feed his ego and/or plans, whatever they may entail? Does Barbados need similar carnage? Not at all, we are already degenerating into a Jamaica like tribalism of Red Vs Blue (Yellow) yet before it only mattered how hard and smart you worked to get ahead!
This Refocusing Barbados while seeking to be an enfant terrible as a champion for Bajan success had initially 549 followers when I first scrutinised it, there are both DLP and BLP supporters peopling the comments; yet it appears the Bees are thronging a bit more, but then this is my view and I have not conducted a CADRES poll. In the space of 2 weeks it has risen to 994 followers while the Faux Freundel Stuart on Twitter has not done a new Tweet since May 2013, all I ask for my readers to do is caution – we need change, but remember… Errol Barrow was a member of the Barbados Labour Party first! There are 30 seats in Parliament and all they do is switch floors and dance all over us, because we let them… THAT is what must cease forthwith! YOU are the boss!
Be it 300K or 270K it is not Bajans against 16, there are also 14 Opposition members who can be doing a lot more – when Sinckler made the lip service of dropping his wages by 10% and reducing his travel emoluments by 50% all they had to do as a symbolic embarrassment is cut theirs by 20% …. even if Mia alone chose to act! If the Opposition is so concerned, why have they not sought to be more pro-active in the NCC drama? When is the last time the Bees held a public meeting? Or are they still dealing with Owen’s absence at the Estimates which hurt the Bees’ vote? Consider the following and consider a new possibility whenever voting is needed again…
Russell Watson recently did an intriguing photo study using Andrew Pilgrim as a model for a diorama. One side showed Andrew with a tie and a Red background and blue letters underneath his face saying “VOTE BDLP” then the opposing half of the view showed Andrew without a tie with a Blue backing yet red letters saying “VOTE DBLP”
“Tom” Adams’ own son, Rawdon – looks like both his father and grandfather, does not see that drastic a difference between either side and said so one night at the Grand Salle. What is there left to do? Rev. Scantlebury tried creating a new party and his supporters were threatened away…. What must be done, then, has happened in Egypt, Finland and Norway… Spoil your ballot on purpose! Those countries had run-off by-elections when the spoiled ballots affected the legitimate outcome of a seat. If even 3 constituencies here have 1,000 “bad” votes each – does this not send a message to Bees and DEM’s alike to shape up or ship off?
This does not need a license nor a directorate, just people using their “X” and make it twice with the lines of the writing over the box allotted each candidate, it is a priceless private move and not worth an iPhone or iPad! If enough Bajans cast their vote in such a way, then it is time for all 30 of both of them to listen to all 270K (300K?) of us!
