As efforts continue to showcase Guyana to the world, Kross Kolor records have joined this drive and will be launching ‘Showcase Guyana’ 2012, in Barbados on June 2nd and 3rd at the Caribbean Pepperpot (Eddie Grant’s Place), St. Lawrence Main Road, Christ Church.

This two day trade Fair and Show is being held in collaboration with the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), the Ministry of Tourism, Go Invest and the Ministry of Culture Youth & Sports, and is aimed at promoting Guyana as a visitor destination through the representation of its art, music, cuisine, culture, fashion and investment opportunities.

As part of this spectacular event, there will also be a performance and workshop by legendary Guyanese, ‘Mad Professor’, who is a dub music producer and engineer known for his original productions and remix work.

Born Neil Joseph Stephen Fraser, the ‘Mad Professor’ is considered one of the leading producers of dub music’s second generation and was instrumental in transitioning dub into the digital age.

He is also a prolific producer, contributing to or producing nearly 200 albums, and has collaborated with reggae artists such as Lee “Scratch” Perry, Sly and Robbie, Pato Banton, Jah Shaka and Horace Andy, as well as artists outside the realm of traditional reggae and dub, such as Sade, Massive Attack, The Orb, and Brazilian DJ Marcelinho da lua.

Guyanese artistes will also be performing, including Vanilla, Adrian Dutchin, Tennicia DeFreitas, Jumo, Rajesh Dubraj and Big Red, among others.

According to the organisers, the event will offer the opportunity to promote Guyanese goods and services as well as its tourism product, and over 30 craft producers will be also present to showcase their local creations.

More importantly, it is a chance to enhance the relationship between Guyana and Barbados.

“This is a great opportunity for us to exhibit Guyana as a tourism destination, to showcase Guyanese food and drink, our goods, agriculture and culture. We will also arrange business meetings with Barbadian counterparts. This event is not just for Guyanese but for all to come, see and enjoy,” the founder of Kross Kolor records, Mr. Burchmore Simon announced.

Apart from an exhibition, sale and display of Guyanese craft and food products, this event will also feature games and rides for children and fashion displays by Guyanese designers.

Kross Kolor Records was established in 1996 by Burchmore Simon with the objective of getting exposure for his song writing talents, the performing talents of his compatriots of all backgrounds and to ensure that Guyanese culture and music enters and stays on the international scene.

Kross Kolor boasts a roster of the top Guyanese artistes, covering all genres of music from rap, reggae, soca, gospel ,r&b to “Foja” the new world beat sound.
