This weekend in the City of Fort Worth, Texas will honor the Late Weldon G. Daniels. We had the opportunity to sit down and talk with his lovely wife Krista to learn more about his ministry and involvement in the community.

He was the first African American to pass the Civil Service Exam in Beaumont Texas and one of the first African Americans to work on the force with the Beaumont Police department. He worked as an undercover Narcotic Agent with the Feds.

He was called to preach while singing in the St John's choir under the leadership of Dr. C.J. Anderson in Oakland California. Pastor Daniels pastored in Mt Pleasant and Groveton Texas where he received his start as an involved community leader while Pastoring, and received many accolades for his involvement there. Then God led him to the Fort Worth area where he became the Proud Pastor of Pilgrim Valley Missionary Baptist Church in 1971 until his health begin to fail. He retired from Pilgrim Valley in September 2007 then became the Senior Advisor to Pastor Darrell W. Blair at New Breed Christian Center for 5 years. This allowed him to continue to do his work in the city because Pastor Blair knew Pastor Daniels was a man who loved people and community involvement. Generosity, kindness, and fairness were engraved into his character.

His love for his wife and family was evidently displayed by his deep concern for their lives. He utilized his God given gift of witnessing, teaching and preaching the gospel to those that were unsaved.

His vision started in 1985 as he worked with Police Chief Windham, Police Chief Ralph Mendoza, Police Chief Halsted, City Officials, Mayor Bob Bolen, Mayor Mike Moncrief, Mayor Betsy Price, Congressman Martin Frost, Fire Marshall Landon Stalling, Kelly Allan Gray, Commissioner Roy Brooks, Mark Veasey, Judge Sharen Wilson, Becky Haskin, Officer Luther Perry, Officer Randy P. Ely, Officer Namond James, LT. G. Ghilespi, Officer Richard M. Morris, Officer Brandon E. Hill, Officer Dave Dodge, Officer R.A. Lambing, LT Michael McCowan, LT Mike Manning as well as the ministers and Pastors within the neighborhoods in concerns of controlling crime and gang violence. Daniels was very passionate about the well-being of the people’s safety in our neighborhoods, in that he organized and formed a group called M.A.C. (Ministers Against Crime). This group worked with the local Police Dept. in helping juveniles who were involved in crime as well as helping to send positive messages between the city and the communities who were involved.and this group still exists today.

He always stated "Together we stand, Divided we fall"

Rev. W. G. Daniels meant a lot to the Fort Worth community and the neighborhoods.

Having said, we will be honoring him on November 8, 2014, at 10:00 am with a celebration service and the unveiling of the street named in his honor. The location will be New Breed Christian Center, 4500 S. Riverside Dr Fort Worth Texas 76119 Darrell W.Blair, Pastor and we will be glad for you to join us.

Again, we would like to thank you for being a part of this celebration.

Respectfully,

Krista Boyce-Daniels
