angryasiangirlsunited:

Viet, Chinese, and Cambodian

I grew up hating myself, my eyes, my hair, my skin, my body. I wanted blonde hair and eyes that looked like those pretty girls on TV and I grew up with a mother who told me not to go outside without a hat or sunscreen or else my skin would turn too dark and ugly. I wanted to be like everyone else in my (predominately white) elementary school and I felt ashamed and embarrassed whenever my friends met my parents with their heavily-accented English and strange mannerisms. I hated speaking Viet or Chinese in front of my friends.

Since then I’ve come to love my body and my culture and who I am. I’m not a mutt and I’m not some disgusting fetish or fantasy. I’m too cute to deal with white boys and racists!

To every Asian girl: take selfies, fuck Eurocentric beauty ideals, and love yourself and love every Asian girl you know. Stay angry and stay beautiful
