Humanity's strongest ...shorty? Hahah! I am not tall myself, and am just about the right height for Levi so I figured I'd embrace my lack of stature and make him the third character from Shingeki no Kyojin / Attack on Titan that I'd cosplay for a shoot. (Previous ones being Eren and Mikasa)
As with a lot of people, Levi is my favorite character in the series. More than the things that make him traditionally "cool", I like his interesting quirks; but more importantly — because a lot of his words have stuck with me. I often think about these lines:
"No matter what kind of wisdom dictates you the option you should pick, no one will be able to tell if it's right or wrong until you arrive to some sort of outcome, resulting from your choice.
The only thing we're allowed to do is to believe we won't regret the choice we made."
Although I look rather disgruntled, I really enjoyed this shoot with my friends. We experimented with moodier lighting which was appropriate for the series, and were very satisfied with the outcome.
This was also an exercise in cosplay makeup for me. I had tried to do Levi makeup a couple of times before but based it more on the Levi ball-jointed doll; this time I used the anime as reference. I've been practicing drawing on a fake eyelid crease for the illusion of heavier eyes. It's a challenge but it really does change the way I look. And then I used some brown powder to shade around my eyes for a more sullen expression. Eyebrows are important too. I strained my forehead trying to get them in the right shape to mimic Levi's for this photo.
