The weekend isn't over yet.
Introducing Rolling Rock, a light Henley-style pullover, worked seamlessly from the top down. It's knit in the Plucky Knitter's Traveler Sport, an unexpected mix of merino, silk, and yak. The balance of fiber here is perfect, creating a delicate fabric with a just hint of sheen and a touch of halo. I think it adds the exact hint of femininity I was going for, but still keeps things simple. 
The silhouette is casual, with just enough ease for an comfy fit. The drape in the fabric and the shaping in the pattern give the sweater a feminine shape that skims your curves nicely without clinging to anything.
I wanted to play with the lace in a way that hadn't been done before, so the panel on back has an interesting slant that keeps it separate from any other shaping elements (making it easy for you to add modifications for fit if needed). The bottle motif is simple and geometric and textured, which makes for a nice design element. Plus, it's called bottle lace, so it was the perfect match for this!
The neckline is a variation on a Henley, with a little added shaping. I wanted the collar itself to begin lower on the body and for the sides of the Henley to remain open in a V above the buttons for a more flattering line at the collarbone. I think it feels more summery, and I like the look of it this way. .
The sweater is knit seamlessly from the top down, using a contiguous shaping method, so you get the look and fit of shoulders and a sleeve cap, without that pesky seaming. If you haven't tried this kind of construction yet, Rolling Rock is a perfect first project on which to try it. I've done my best to explain the shaping as you work down the yoke and keep it as straightforward as possible. It's actually pretty fun, and the result is very cool.
