Looking for a decent home can be tough. First, you need to find something that suits your needs, family size, and lifestyle.
But sometimes, the perfect place is actually easier to find than you think — you just have to put a little work into it.
Designer Whitney Leigh Morris and her partner, Adam Winkleman, were faced with this issue. But they were lucky to find a solution. However, they were the only ones who believed it could work!
That’s because the couple decided to move into a garage. The 362-square-foot building was actually used as a standalone garage back in the 1920s, and shares the property with the original main house.
And naturally, not everyone believed it could work. After all, with two humans and two dogs, and the need for living, sleeping, eating, and work space, wouldn’t you need something larger?
But if there’s anything the tiny house movement has taught us, it’s that pretty much anything can be turned into a beautiful, livable home. Even an old school bus can be transformed into a cozy cottage with a little imagination.
Morris and Winkleman agree. As Morris says, “We don’t have to ‘live large’ to live beautifully.”
And after seeing her house? We totally agree!

And while you’d never guess it by looking at the interior from this angle, her home measure only 362 square feet — that’s really small!

In fact, this house was never intended to be a house at all.
It was built in the 1920s on the property of a larger house, and was used as a garage by the owners

But thanks to Morris’ talent for design, she found she could create space for the whole family, including a kitchen, bedroom, and living space all within the tiny building.

As you can see, the wide doors, once used by cars and carriages, have been replaced with glass doors and panels to let in extra light. This desk is also Morris’ workspace, which she keeps minimal and compact to save space.

A mirror hung over the desk also helps make the room seem larger by reflecting light back into the space. Even if you don’t have a tiny house, this is a great trick for any room!

And the living room can also double as a dining room with the addition of a table cloth.

A kitchen was installed along the back wall, and an L-shaped couch serves to divide up the space without making it feel too closed-off.

The bedroom is also partitioned off for extra privacy, and lots of shelving help with storage. It looks like Sophee and Stanlee approve!

There’s even backyard space, which the couple has converted into a small patio area, complete with trailing ivy and fairy lights for extra coziness.
This looks like the perfect place to spend a warm night!
