DUBAI  – Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, the two teams who remained number one and two teams in first round of PSL, will today (Friday) fight each other in the first playoff of Pakistan Super League at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, to qualify for the final match.

The winner will directly reach finals while the losing side will get a chance to play against the winner of second playoff, which will be played between Islamabad and Karachi on Saturday.

In case of victory the team will avoid elimination at the T20 league and face off the winner of first playoff in the finals.

Peshawar Zalmi have won the toss and have opted to field

On the other hand, the Gladiators will be looking up to their seasoned campaigners – Kevin Pietersen, Kumar Sangakkara, Sarfraz Ahmed and Grant Elliott, to try and weave their magic on the field today. They also have some very experienced Pakistani players in the form of Umar Gul, Aizaz Cheema and Zulfiqar Babar. Should be a cracker of a game. The toss and the teams are not far away. Stay tuned…

Both teams won six out of their eight league matches, with both teams winning one and losing one in their head-to-head contests. Peshawar will be without their star batsman, Tamim Iqbal, who has left to prepare for the Asia Cup in his home country. However, Shahid Afridi’s men have found a suitable replacement in the form of Brad Hodge, who smashed an unbeaten 45-ball 85 in Peshawar’s last league game. There were a lot of big names missing from their final league game. Riaz, Tait and Junaid, all are expected to be back for this match.

We have reached the business end of the tournament and first up, it’s the big clash between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators in the first qualifier of the Pakistan Super League. Shahid Afridi vs Sarfraz Ahmed, a battle between two superstars of Pakistan cricket. The winner will take their place in the final, while the team that loses today, will have another opportunity to make it to the championship clash. Hello and welcome to one and all for this big match between the two best sides from the league stages.

Earlier Lahore Qalandars were eliminated after they remained the number five team in the first round, which was extended to 20 games.

The final match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is scheduled on February 23 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
