Sam Bradford aka football’s Ryan Reynolds has agreed to a two-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bradford joined the Eagles last season and compiled some career bests, but the team finished 7-9 and coach Chip Kelly was fired. But new coach Doug Pederson and the team’s front office decided to keep the injury-prone free agent quarterback.

Bradford, 28, was acquired by the Eagles in a trade a year ago with the Rams that sent Philadelphia’s incumbent quarterback, Nick Foles, to St. Louis. The moves was seen as a shake-up for Kelly’s new offense.

Bradford started 14 games and threw for a career-high 3,725 yards, the fourth-highest yardage total in franchise history. Bradford’s 346 completions and his career-best 65.03 completion percentage both were Eagles single-season records, according to Yahoo.

He suffered a serious shoulder setback during his final year of college and has twice missed extended periods with a torn ACL.

New Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said in his introductory press conference that Bradford was a “perfect fit” for the offense Pederson plans to run, according to ESPN. Bradford was the first overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft. He was the offensive rookie of the year after completing a rookie-record 354 passes for 3,512 yards, the second most ever by a rookie.

Eagles executive Howie Roseman confirmed the team’s interest in re-signing the quarterback last month.

“We’ve all been clear that we like Sam, and we’d like to have him back. It goes then between all of us and whether we can figure something out that makes sense on both sides,” Roseman said at the time. “Sometimes we get into a situation where we sit here and it will make sense from the team’s perspective but when you’re talking about a negotiation, it’s also got to work for the other side and the player, and we understand that.

“But hopefully this will all work out and we’ll look at that depth chart when we line up here in July and be really excited about the position.”
