Finn Jones as the Iron Fist officially received its first trailer for the upcoming series from Marvel Entertainment and Netflix. And, it looks great. Definitely, brings a different tone from Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. Finn has previously addressed fans’ concerns over issues of cultural appropriation , asking them to “wait until you’ve seen the show, and then pass judgment.”

There was concern about the casting decision as some believed Marvel should have used the opportunity to cast an Asian American actor in the lead . While the original comic book character is white, some fans have expressed fatigue with stories involving heroes taking stereotypical journeys east to discover magical Asian awesomeness.

Jones plays billionaire Danny Rand who returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

The hero’s primary antagonist in the trailer appears to be Harold Meachum, an oily executive who has no interest in ceding control of Rand Enterprises. Meachum’s initial distrust of Danny – “Why has he waited this long to show up? How the hell did he learn martial arts?” – soon turns into pure menace. “Rand is my company,” he asserts in the trailer. Later a voice whispers, “This city is no place for Danny Rand.”

Here are some reactions on social media to the Iron Fist trailer.

The beauty of Iron Fist's character is his story is about ideas of welcoming in new cultures and acceptance.

We all know Iron Fist is gonna have flashbacks, which begs the question. Why not just have the series be about him becoming the Iron Fist?

let me spell it out slowly:

IRON FIST SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASIAN AMERICAN BECAUSE IRON FIST SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN WHITE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Iron Fist is looking pretty rocking. It's bound to be better that sleepy Luke Cage.
