asylum-art:
The soft and melancholic works of Atsuko Goto
If you’re a regular Bleaq visitor you probably have a pretty good idea of the aesthetics of the shared work: beautiful art with a touch of
melancholy. Often these keywords result in dark colored, harsh shaped
pieces: a style I absolutely adore. But there’s another side, another
type of bleakness I’d love to share with you today. The work of Japanese
artist Atsuko Goto shows a lighter sense of melancholy: a soft, light
color palette and ethereal portrayal of his subjects. The vulnerability
of Atsuko’s portraits give them a beautiful sense of melancholy, and
show how beautiful the fragile can be.
