Virtual reality (VR) arcade franchise system Ctrl V announced its plans to open 10 new locations across Canada in the next eight months.

Ctrl V is a verified member of the Virtual Reality Standards Board (VRSB), which ensures health and safety guidelines are met in commercial facilities. The company differs from other arcades because it has an in-house development team and proprietary software suite. The software features an accessible customer-facing user interface, which allows visitors to preview, load and exit games at their own discretion, with little assistance from staff.

“Our team anticipated the entertainment industry’s involvement in the expansion of VR back in January 2016 and approached our current industry partners months before we opened our first location,” says Ctrl V’s CEO, Ryan Brooks. “We see our platform as being a great complement to the entertainment experience and we are focused on supporting this aspect of VR expansion.”

Ctrl V currently has 40 custom-built VR stations. A new franchise opened in Guelph, Ont., at the end of January and locations in Calgary, Red Deer and Lethbridge, Alta., will open in February and March.
