About Memories Lost In Time by JJ Harlyn:

When Ben’s friend Hope tells him about her theory of time-travel he assumes it’s all part of an elaborate prank. At first he dismissed the idea as fantasy, but when his family’s financial problems threaten to derail his plans for the future Ben is forced to reconsider the possibilities.

Ben’s photographic memory makes him the perfect subject for Hope’s dangerous experiment. Risking everything, he and his friend William hatch a plot for Ben to travel back just two days and secure the wealth they both need so desperately.

But when the time-travel experiment goes awry, Ben wakes up in his freshman dorm, just as a naked woman emerges from his roommate’s bed. To make matters worse he’s traveled back to the one day missing from his otherwise perfect memory.

Will Ben’s visit to the past alter his current reality? Or is the “Butterfly Effect” nothing but an illusion?

Join Ben on his journey back in time where he must once again face the roommate from hell. And who is that mysterious young woman that will rock his world.

Author Bio:

At the age of 71, JJ Harlyn is an unlikely first time author. Still working part-time as an engineering consultant he was inspired by a friend who had written his first book after retiring from a long and successful career. JJ’s novel, “Memories Lost in Time,” uses the concept of time-travel to create a compelling “coming of age” story. Set in a mid-west college, the story follows three friends as they conduct unsanctioned experiments to further their academic careers while at the same time tackling some significant money issues.

The idea for his time-travel story emerged from a dream that recurred for several nights. Once the story’s framework was created, JJ developed the rest of his narrative based on personal experience, people he knew and his grandchildren. The main female character, for example, very much resembles his granddaughter in every way with one significant exception. She’s not a brilliant physicist but rather a sixteen year old high school girl who hopes one day to become a speech therapist. His youngest granddaughter’s request to be a dog, in the book, was most challenging. It required nearly half a chapter to explain why the hero’s little dog was named Emily.

The author initially believed that the primary market for his book would be young adults. The reality came as a surprise when he began circulating early drafts of the book among his friends. The feedback he received from the over 60 crowd was quite encouraging. Even readers who normally don’t choose science fiction seemed to enjoy the book. It also became clear that seniors are more avid readers since they are no longer burdened by the daily work grind or obligations of young children.

“Memories Lost in Time” is a refreshing variation on the typical time-travel, science fiction novel. It’s light reading that will take you on a journey with Ben and his friends as they challenge the very foundation of time, as we know it. Several twists and turns at the end of the book are a welcome surprise, providing the reader with a most satisfying ending.
