This is the “crown jewel” of my off season training protocol. It is based on the Soviet Percentage System of powerlifting and never fails to deliver! The challenge for an advanced bodybuilder is often breaking growth and strength plateaus. My solution for both myself and my clients is a 6-12 week break from traditional hypertrophy geared workouts and “downshift” to a less time intensive but greater stress training that is more akin to Powerlifting training. The beauty of this is that for a bodybuilder or anyone else who values not only size and power but also aesthetics , the body responds wonderfully both during this power phase and as well when one resumes bodybuilding training.

Author Bio:

I began my path in Fitness a number of years back and have taken some pretty wild side roads along the way. I have worked as a Paramedic , Soldier , Musician , Personal Trainer (A.C.E. and I.A.P.C. certified) and Self Defense Instructor so I know a few things about how Fitness is relevant in real-world tasks. I also teach Meditation and Kundalini Yoga (certified by Anmol Mehta) on a one on one basis. My primary Martial Arts background is in Ninpo Taijutsu and Krav Maga and I have cross-trained a diverse set of styles ranging from American Judo and MMA to TKD and Systema with a very focused interest in WW2 Combatives as well as “orphan” styles such as French “Apache” methods and Arwrology. Currently I train with A.C.W.A and the Genbukan. In my daily life I own and operate Ronin Fitness D.F.W. as well as compete in the local bodybuilding circuit.
