2017 is shaping up to be a year of challenge for many…

Politically, we as a collective Nation and World are in uncharted territory. Regardless of political persuasion, faced with the unknown, we can undergo emotional upheaval and physical stress. Yet, teachers like Ram Dass remind us to begin first with cultivating our own resilience, inner peace and harmony. Without it, we are of no use to others or any causes in which we choose to be involved. It behooves many of us to double-up on our yoga, meditation, and other practice that will center and help us restore life balance.

For those who want to begin a new practice to help withstand stressful times, Qigong is an excellent option. Qigong is a 4,000-year-old holistic system that cultivates our life energy, creating abundant vitality, health, and happiness. Qigong uses gentle movement, sound, breathing and visualization to connect the life energy and create an integrative state of wholeness of our entire being. Qigong in China is the grandfather of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), Martial arts and Tai Chi and was kept secret until later 70s in China.

Some are saying that Qigong is the “new yoga”, with the difference that it doesn’t require a yoga mat! It invites you to enhance your flexibility, vitality and energy from any stage of health and life. Qigong can be practiced moving, standing, sitting even lying down – it is gentle and powerful, subtle and physically tangible. Its main goal, from the ancient history, is to realize both practical goal of longevity as well as spiritual growth. Testimonials indicate the ability to help with chronic diseases such as diabetes, high-blood pressure, cancer, heart disease, and more. The library at the National Institutes of Health published a report on the collective results of a large-number of well-designed research studies, indicating that daily practice of Qigong has been proven to help manage and even heal diseases.

Just as important, however, is the ability of Qigong to cultivate an overall feeling of well-being and supercharge our spiritual practice.

With the end of the Chinese Cultural Revolution and the opening of China in the 70s, Qigong started spreading throughout the world. Qigong is rapidly gaining in popularity worldwide, and there now is a choice of many competent teachers from which to choose.
