Administration of engineering support for airframe related problems on transport category aircraft.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:
ADA Essential Functions:
Manage the Support Engineering group to ensure that timely and FAA approved dispositions are provided to TIMCO Production via the Request for Technical Services (RFTS) system and continued interaction and visibility with Production personnel.
Manage engineering resources to ensure that personnel utilization is maximized.
Set department objectives, assign projects and evaluate department work for content and conformity with FAA, customer and TIMCO requirements.
Maintain involvement in day to day TIMCO operations to ensure that the highest level of engineering support is maintained at all times.
Design, review, evaluate and approve or gain FAA approval as applicable of repair data for aircraft defects that are beyond the scope of the applicable FAA approved repair documentation.
Review and approve engineering data and reports as required to substantiate and document repairs that are dispositioned by TIMCO Engineering.
Research and review engineering data (drawings, reports, manuals, etc.) defining aircraft structure or systems to determine the most efficient method of repair.
Expand expertise and knowledge on aircraft structures and mechanical systems related to the airplanes worked at TIMCO.
Maintain expertise on Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Alternate Means of Compliance (AMOC) and related regulatory requirements and processes.
Maintain and expand expertise on internal TIMCO policies and procedures, monitor their effectiveness and make recommendations for their improvement.
Generate labor estimates for engineering tasks as required, maintaining accountability for such estimates verses actual expenditures.
Interface with other TIMCO departments to ensure customer & TIMCO requirements are met.
Provide input & suggestions for continuous improvement of Department procedures, controls, flows & systems, and increase familiarity with TIMCOs internal policies & procedures.
Coordinate, in a professional manner, with customers, major manufacturers, vendors and other outside agencies to promote and support TIMCOs commercial and technical interests.
Develop quotes, monitor billing and negotiate customer settlements as required related to support engineering operations.
Provide support to Marketing to increase TIMCOs presence in the industry.
Prepare and implement department operating and capital budgets.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
BS Degree in Engineering or related scientific field or a minimum of 15 years experience in structural repair and modification of transport category airframes from within a support engineering group.
Ten (10) years experience in engineering field involving maintenance and/or modification of transport category aircraft, preferably dealing in liaison, design, stress analysis, or a related function.
Must possess knowledge of FAA regulations, certification processes and related requirements. DER or DER candidate preferred, or must meet requirements of establishing FAA DER candidacy.
Must possess good working knowledge of engineering principles, classical stress analysis techniques and analytical substantiation methods.
Must possess extensive knowledge of repair and fabrication practices, aviation hardware and general aircraft maintenance and modification operations. Must be extremely hands on, mechanically inclined and practical.
Must possess extensive knowledge of aircraft type specific information involving structure, structural modifications, service problems, repairs, etc.
Must have extensive knowledge of the use and application of aircraft technical data such as engineering drawings, SRMs, MMs, SBs, IPCs, etc.
Must possess proficiency with personal computer systems with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
Must be extremely aggressive, a self-starter highly motivated and be able to work under pressure and with a minimum level of supervision.
Must have the ability to manage, organize and motivate people in technical positions.
Must be able to deal with customers and other TIMCO departments effectively.
