2013-07-25

2013 is just half over and we are all highly anticipating the release of the PlayStation 4. With that wait comes the games that will be released with it. But we still can’t forget that the PlayStation 3 is still going to have some great titles available until then as well! Read on to take a look at the top 10 most anticipated PlayStation games of 2013!

Now I put these in the order I of what I liked. Think they should be in a different order or do you think I missed something? Then leave a comment with how you would do it!

Note: Please note that I didn’t put availability or pricing on here. Why? Well it changes so fast I can’t keep up!  So if you want to know when you can get the game? Click on the picture to take you to Amazon to fill you in on the details – thanks!

Call of Duty Ghosts

Yes I’m biased. I think this will be a huge seller. But Infinity Ward is taking a huge risk at finally updating the Graphics Engine. Take a look at the trailer below. The Campaign is going to be awesome – but how is the Multi Player going to work? Already dubbed “The Doggie Edition” due to its incessant plug for the puppy in every game play video found. Can it manage to balance the new engine with the game play we have all come to know so well or will this version be the end and really become what it is titled? Take a look at the E3 premier outlining Call of Duty Ghosts – but don’t expect to see much multi player action.

Battlefield 4

With its Frostbite 3 engine this game looks even more amazing than its predecessor Battlefield 3. This is arguably going to be the best FPS out when it is released. With DICE and EA taking the time to invest in a real single player campaign that looks AMAZING. Couple that with their already incredible online multi player experience this is sure to give Call of Duty: Ghosts a run for their money! Take a look at the 17 minute game play trailer below and see the cinematic experience for your self!

Grand Theft Auto V

This game can’t come out soon enough! Although still a few months away I would really like to get my hands on it NOW! With this installment by Rock Star games you live in “Los Santos” (*ahem* Los Angeles) the decaying land of faded celebrities, self-help gurus, and crappy reality television. You play as Michael the professional ex-con going through his mid-life crisis, Franklin the ex street gangster looking for his next big break or Trevor the psychotic maniac always looking for that big rush and even bigger score. With an even more intricate world to lay waste to, improved graphics and game play, and a more in-depth story line. This one is sure to blow you away. Take a look at the trailer below to give you a little taste at what you’ll get (NSFW due to Language)

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

This is the follow up to Assassin’s Creed III. Play as Edward Kenway Captain of your ship the Jackadaw. Travel the high seas as a trained assassin and pirate as you travel from Havana to Nassau in the 1700′s. Fight epic battles with other ships, search for treasure under water or in lost ruins, hunt exotic animals, and of course assassinate your enemies in the blossoming cities. Armed with dual Cutlass swords and your Flintlocks are you ready to become the most feared captain of the Seas? If that isn’t enough there is going to be the continuation of the multi player as well. Take on your friends online too! Take a look at the E3 Game Play trailer below and get ready to go “Arrrgggghhh!” as you never have before!

Final Fantasy XIV

With this latest installment into the Final Fantasy series they are going back into the realm of the MMORPG. This time around it is set to be more “single player” friendly more geared for shorter game play times. Enter the world of Eorzea and develop your characters as you engage in compelling story lines where the cut scenes feature your avatar. Easily alter your game play experience by swapping out equipment with your character. This MMO is attempting to cater to different types of gaming styles.

Hmm… this is starting to sound more like Star Wars: The Old Republic rather than Final Fantasy?

As with all games in the Final Fantasy series – the animation is beyond epic. Hopefully the game play will as well. No information on how they plan on doing pricing, any type of end game, etc… Take a look at the Key Features and trailer for it below and decide for yourself if you want to invest in another time sink MMO.

Key Features:

A persistent and evolving world with immersive storylines and well-developed characters

HD quality real-time cut scenes

Guild-based activities focused on catering to players with different gaming styles

Both quick and extensive gameplay sessions, accessible in solo and group play

The freedom to entirely alter the gameplay experience by equipping any of a wide array of weapons and tools in the Armoury System, one of the foundations of the FINAL FANTASY XIV experience and the driving force behind character development

A breathtaking musical score by renowned FINAL FANTASY series composer Nobuo Uematsu

Batman: Arkham Origins

DC Comics and Warner Brother Games is taking us back to the beginning before Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. This time around we see a younger unrefined version of Batman before the rise of Gotham City’s notorious criminals. Meet characters online that forge key relationships that help him become the Dark Knight.

Gran Turismo 6

SONY is hoping that this game will take virtual driving/racing sim to a new level with this version of Gran Turismo. With an updated graphics engine with “adaptive tessellation”, an overhaul of the physics engine including improved aerodynamics and suspension simulations. From the trailer and screenshots they do look amazing. Especially in the video when you see the Porsche getting a bit too close to the inside and going up on two wheels around the corner. Gran Turismo is sure to get you as close as you can get to being in the driver’s seat in the hottest cars out today. Take a look at the intro trailer below and decide for yourself:

Beyond: Two Souls

This psychological action thriller brings you Jodie Holmes and her “invisible entity” with incredible powers. Take a journey across the globe as you go through 15 years of her life as she faces insurmountable obstacles, adventure, and loss. Featuring the same director who brought you “Heavy Rain” (David Cage) and starring A-list actors Willem Defoe and Ellen Page. With the Quantum Dream providing cutting edge graphics it is being touted as the one of the best looking games for the PlayStation 3. This one is sure to mess with your emotions.

Watch Dogs

With Watch Dogs enter into a new realm of gaming. Imagine that everything is now connected to a central network. You no longer have any true anonymity as there are cameras every where watching you. (hey wait a minute!)Play as Aiden Pierce: uber hacker, former thug, whose criminal past causes a family tragedy. Enter the world of the CTOS – Central Operating System as you use it to find out who hurt your family. Set in the streets of Chicago you have to navigate not only the network but the streets and rooftops as well. With over 30 weapons at your disposal as well as vehicles to help you hack through the city this one is sure to be different. Brought to you by Ubisoft.

Watch Dog Companion Game

What makes this game different is the companion-game that you can play offline. Connect and compete with your friends from anywhere.

A Different Kind of Multi Player

A new realm of multi player brings you a new level of interaction, cooperation, and confrontation between players that brings you a seamless experience whether your playing single or multi player versions of the game. Stating no more loading times, sub menus, or the usual that goes with today’s multi player experience.

Disrupt Game Engine

Using the Disrupt game engine it not only offers stunning visuals, everything you do in the game affects the city around you.

Killzone: Shadowfall

Two rival factions known as the Helghast and the Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city, divided by a vast wall. This FPS looks pretty interesting. You have a huge assortment of weapons and accessories at your disposal as you play through missions from stopping attacks, infiltrations, or all out war.

From the Killzone Website:

It’s up to Lucas Kellan, a member of the military intelligence unit known as the Shadow Marshals, to try to protect the fragile peace that exists. A new warrior for a new era of war, Kellan ‘s missions will range from quiet infiltrations to all-out combat. Lucas will need to be methodical and ready to adapt, as any misstep could lead to mutually assured destruction!

Although I’m sure there is going to be a Multi Player aspect to the game – there hasn’t been much more information about it.

Bonus:

Destiny

This game isn’t on the list – not because it isn’t going to be awesome, but because… there are just too many great titles for gamers to be playing. But I thought it should be on here.

From the creators of the original Halo series Bungie. This is their newest epic adventure into the realm of First Person Shooters. Enter a world set far into the mysterious future. Once humanity has explored the solar system but now there are only ruins. Now the people of Earth are safe behind the walls of the last city on earth. You are surrounded by your enemies. You can either sit back and watch them slowly tear down those walls. Or fight back.

Destiny features a compelling storyline, competitive multiplayer, cooperative gameplay choices, wide open public combat destinations, and third-person community spaces where you can repair and rearm before going out on your next adventure.

From what I have seen online? The game looks amazing! I can’t wait for it actually be released.

Well I hope you enjoyed this list. It was a lot of fun putting it together for you folks!
