General Motors is getting serious about the competition with BMW and has recently been given the green light to produce a new flagship sedan that will directly go head to head with the BMW 7 series and Mercedes S Class. This new sedan is expected to come out around 2015. This is an exciting new development for the American auto lineup and should complete a stable of Cadillac models for luxury drive fans to pick and choose through.

Here is the rundown of the Cadillac lineup:

The Cadillac ATS is the new compact sedan and will be in showrooms as early as next month as a 2013 model. The ATS is the first vehicle built on General Moto’s new Alpha rear wheel drive platform. A diesel version is on its to Europe but this model is not currently scheduled for United States sales.

The 2014 Cadillac CTS is on board to arrive to showrooms later this year. The update for this model gives it a sleeker styling than the current version and has the same Alpha platform as the ATS. Another version of this popular Caddy will show up in early 2015.

The 2013 Cadillac XTS came out last month to replace the old DTS and STS Caddy sedans. It was the lucky version to launch the new Cadillac infotainment system as part of the Cadillac User Experience. A hybrid model should come out in either 2014 or 2015.

The Cadillac Omega flagship will be a large rear wheel drive sedan that will have its own brand new platform. This new model is currently scheduled to come out sometime in 2015. Rumors are flying all around about this new addition, so stay tuned for more news as it develops.

The Cadillac SRX will be available this fall with its new redesign that will include the Cadillac User Experience system, noise cancellation and other interior updates. It will also have a restyled grille, new front fender vents and LED headlights. A plug in hybrid is also being rumored to be in the makes.

Cadillac Large crossover, with no official name yet will use a Lambda platform to what is also used in the Chevy Traverse and Buick Enclave. This is expected out in the 2015 sales year.

Cadillac Escalade update will come out later next year, with new siblings. The GMC Yukon, Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban will be joining this family. The Escalade EXT pickup will be retired but the Chevy Avalanche will take over the same platform.

The Cadillac ELR coupe is expected to come out later next year and will be a more high luxury version of the Chevy Volt.
