A collector named Anthony (last name withheld) recently told these facts. “I paid PSA $2,583 to issue Certs for 78 items that I obtained in person. Some of the items were inscribed to me and some came with photographs of the celebrity signing the item. Sample items are of Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith and even an item signed by The Beatles that has a Frank Caiazzo Certificate. Of the 78 items, PSA failed 68 of them including the Caiazzo Beatles piece.
The collectors cost averaged $258 for each of the ten good Certificates. Some of those photographs authenticated had a retail value of $20-$30 each.
The collector, in complete disbelief, called PSA on the phone explaining that all were in person autographs but the rare few authenticated by experts in their fields (Caiazzo, Beatles piece). PSA’s response was that even forgers are now inscribing photographs.
The collector, now out $2,583 is now told by PSA that he is either a liar or a forger. The forger (in person collector) is now calling PSA “incompetent ”
Now, the collector has two choices. Either file a charge back on his credit card or file a police report.
One thing for sure, the collector will never use PSA ever again.
