It's beginning to feel like summer and Austin has a lot of events to offer in May! We have compiled a list of activities, festivals, races and more for you to participate in that are uniquely Austin.

Get out to the lake, play at a park or find some indoor activities... the sky's the limit. Annual events such as Pecan Street Festival and the Austin Fashion Week are some favorites, and there are plenty of other things to do outside, like Cap 2K Swim or the World's Biggest Disc Golf Weekend, to make this May in Austin one to remember!

Yoga in the Park (Each Wednesday)

May 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29

In Downtown Austin's Republic Square Park, Yoga Yoga will be having free yoga classes every Wednesday in April at noon. It's a great time to get some exercise in the fresh spring air of Austin.

First Thursday

May 2

Every First Thursday of the Month on South Congress, there is plenty to see, buy and eat for all ages. Many stores have special sales and snacks for their customers, and it's a great event for families!

West End First Thursday

May 2

Make the first Thursday of every month a night to spend at a gallery in the West End.

Shakespeare in the Park (Each Thursday-Sunday)

May 9-12, 16-19 & 23-26

Enjoy a Shakespearian play, The Winter's Tale, each weekend in May at the Zilker Hillside Theater.

No Pants Day

May 3

Every first Friday of May, people throughout the country celebrate a new, warm month by going trouserless. Clean & appropriate undergarments encouraged!!

Austin Fashion Week

May 3-11

Enjoy a week full of fashion events including a fashion show, concert and awards show.

Cap 2K Swim

May 4

The annual open water race will take place at our beloved Lady Bird Lake. The race hopes to promote clean water conservation and open water swimming, while also raising money for reserach, support & awareness of prostate cancer.

Free Comic Book Day

May 4

Simply walk into any participating comic book store (in Austin and around the world!) all day to recieve free comic books. If you can't participate this year, this event takes place the first Saturday of every May.

Pecan Street Festival

May 4 & 5

The bi-yearly arts & crafts festival on Sixth Street is a great way to spend the weekend being creative in the heart of Austin, Texas. The Pecan Street Festival is A fantastic event for all ages!

World's Biggest Disc Golf Weekend

May 4 & 5

Fourteen cities in Texas, including Austin and Wimberley, as well as many cities around the world, will be hosts to thousands of disc golf enthusiasts who will play on more than 100 courses worldwide.

Pachanga Latino Music Festival

This Latino Music Festival, at Fiesta Gardens on the shores of Lady Bird Lake in East Austin, will serve Austin with multiple acts like Los Lobos and Vallejo, for it's sixth year. Enjoy latin-inspired foods and crafts as well!

Tour of Homes

May 10-12

Experience the ultimate open house and view more than 60 houses in 9 key communities all around Austin.

Gardens on Tour

May 11

Enjoy a tour of five private gardens as well as the Wildflower Center for some ideas on how to design a garden using wildflowers and native Austin, Texas plants. Could be a great way to spend a part of Mother's Day weekend with your family!

Alamo Drafthouse and the Austin Parks Foundation work together to bring you movies at Republic Square Park once a month. This year's movie theme is 'Heroes & Heroines".

The 36th Annual Pun-Off, held at the O. Henry Museum, is filled with hundreds of storytellers and people ready to pun.

Kerville Folk Festival

Enjoy music, camping and more with your family at the Quiet Valley Ranch just south of Kerrville. For almost an entire month, over 30,000 people, including 1,500 singer-songwriters come together at this mecca of music.

East End Fourth Friday

Fiesta Amistad

El Amistad club is a non-profit civic organization in Round Rock to support efforts emphasizing education, community services, recognition for veterans and Hispanic cultural awareness. This annual event features live music, food and family entertainment.
