AURORA | With five years under their belt, the folks at Copper Kettle Brewing Co. are feeling ambitious.

To celebrate their fifth anniversary, the brewery on South Valentia Street near Parker Road has a five-day party planned during which they’ll unveil 12 different beers. To put that in perspective, the brewery usually has between 10 and 14 brews on tap, total.

Julia Wellington, special events and marketing coordinator at Copper Kettle, said the five-day party — which features beer releases each day, as well as food trucks and live music — is gonna be hectic.

It starts April 20 with the return of the Rokaru Japanese Pale Ale, a beer made with rice, hopped with Cascade and fermented with Sake yeast.

April 21 is “Throwback Thursday,” when the brewery breaks out some classics from their first year: Altbier, Roggenbier, Copper Mezzina American pale ale and Black Onyx black lager. Wellington said those beers haven’t been poured in at least three years.

The taps in the tasting room will still have many of Copper Kettle’s regular brews during the festivities, she said, with extra taps being added in the event room for some of the new ones, including the small batches of staff-made beers on Friday.

Copper Kettle isn’t the only brewery celebrating this month. Comrade Brewing Co. has their second anniversary party set for April 23. We’ll have more in this spot next week about the special brews their cracking open for the party, including some barrel-aged versions of their Quit Stalin Russian Imperial Stout.

And just in time for summer, the folks at Dry Dock Brewing Co. have added a new feature to their North Dock location near Interstate 70 and Tower Road: a disc golf course. The nautical-themed, 9-hole course, dubbed “The Dock,” is open during daylight hours, rain or shine. They’ve also got Dry Dock branded discs for sale inside in the Canoe Room.

Launch Pad Brewery last week unveiled their Space Elevator Black Smoked Rye, which they say is a dark and crisp brew with a rich smoky aroma.

If you’re looking for some tough-to-find craft brews, give Havana Park Liquor a shot. The craft-centric brewery at 10772 E. Iliff Ave, keeps an impressive stock of rare brews.

This week the small shop near East Iliff Avenue and South Havana Street still has a few bottles of J.W. Lee’s English barleywine aged in Lagavulin Scotch barrels and some Even More Jesus imperial stout from Evil Twin Brewing.

Owner Jarrad Harding said he also stashes some rare ones for a while before breaking them out. That’s why he’s still got a few bottles of Russian River Brewing Co. Consecration wild American ale from last year.

I swung by this week and snagged a bottle of Brewery Ommegang’s Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale, the latest in the New York brewery’s always-tough-to get line of beers inspired by the HBO show. Harding has a few of those left, too.
